A brilliant village pub in the Vale. Came for Sunday lunch. The young girl, senior waitress and lad in a blue shirt served us today. Brilliant and friendly staff; quick service; young girl swiftly informed chefs of a mushroom allergy one of our party had.
Roast beef was the best I'd ever had. Succulent medium-well British beef which was amazingly cooked - everything about the dish was perfect - Yorkshire, gravy and selection of veg. The roast pork and veggie tart was also apparently delicious. Another nice touch was that the warm bread that you get with drinks is locally baked British produce. I am pleased that they offer Becks beer as that's my favourite lol.
Overall, a lovely and quaint village pub with great atmosphere, friendly staff and chefs that care and love to cook the great quality food. An excellent meal and will be back soon. The conservatory dining room at the back is nice and...
Read moreHaving been here before on different days, we knew the place had great quality food so wanted to try their Sunday roast.
2 courses for £10 per person is pretty reasonable.
Had the carrot and coriander soup and haddock fish cakes for starters which were very well made.
The roast was very nice too , slices of chicken, very good potatos, mash, parsnips, carrots, broccoli and cabbage served with a home made Yorkshire pudding and stuffing.
I eat quite a lot but even I was stuffed to the brim!
Good quality food at good prices.
The burgers are also really excellent here if you decide to come on other days.
Aside from food, the atmosphere is pretty tame and quiet and feels like a romantic place to have a meal.
The location feels fairly remote but does add to the feeling of being miles away from stress and pollution and where you can just wind down after...
Read moreWe went there 1st of all because of its use in one of our fave tv shows - auf wiedersehen pat. Apart from our delight in recognising this inn, the interior is beautiful, the staff very friendly, helpful and efficient. The food is extra lovely and very reasonably priced but beware the price of wine. This is "pub grub" par excellence. Book a table ahead. We booked ours for 12, as soon as it opened and by 1pm, trade was booming. There is a nice beer garden out front. The setting is a lovely village giving a great chill out factor to the place. Countryside around is farming and very rural, lots of chances of getting good views. Belvoir castle is just up the road and for fans of Auf Wiedersehen, Knipton a few miles on is worth a quick visit. Parking by the pub is limited but I am sure you could find a spot in a side street. Well...
