We booked this place as it was handy for the NEC to watch Crufts. It was only £57 for the night for 2, including continental breakfast. We arrived about 20:30pm and we were handed our key and told how to find our room, no mention about anything in the room or how and when breakfast was served (very poor). The room was functional and at first inspection was clean, look harder and there is dust everywhere. The complimentary tea tray leaved a lot to be desired but had the basic tea and coffee. You are above a pub so expect some noise, it wasn't to bad to be fair. The hotel is situated next to a canal and if you have young ones watch out they could fall in easily. Stunning settings and a very peaceful area. Breakfast is served at 8am on a saturday and we were quite hungry by then and a continental breakfast was supplied. I say continental but that is only the case if it was in a refugee camp in some war torn country. The basic cereal packets were on offer and then toast and an apple or orange. No mention of the stunning chocky pans pictured on the website, or the other lovely treats they pictured. We discovered after that there is an option to have a cooked breakfast, for a fee but the staff member on duty failed to offer this or any other upsale. It has to be the most disappointing breakfast that we never had.

I cannot say enough about this venue, the venue is set on a beautiful rural canal side location and the building has recent undergone a huge revamp, it’s very posh and quirky! The Guiness is one of the best pints I’ve had. The first night I had the chicken burger which was really tender, then the following evening I had the 10oz steak which was cooked to absolute perfection so the knife just glided through it like butter and was the perfect pink for a medium rare steak. The full English breakfast in the morning was absolutely spot on too. The staff are very polite, friendly and attentive to the customers, and the best thing is it’s one of the most dog friendly pub/restaurants I’ve been. The hotel upstairs is absolutely beautiful and immaculate, the beds and everything are brand new and one of the best nights sleep I’ve had in ages, I didn’t hear a sound all night. It’s most definitely one of the best places I’ve been for a pint. When you consider the location, food and the fantastic service, it’s very well priced! I’ll definitely be coming back for a pint, highly recommend! Oh and did I say it’s really dog friendly!!

Popped in here for lunch and a bit of work whilst my car was in the garage. Booked the table ahead, mentioned that I need a bit more space to setup due to wanting to do a bit of work. Was accommodated more than enough (6 people table!) all to myself - so nice when the instructions are followed. The staff are lovely - very friendly and helpful. Will say, wish I was given the lunch menu (as they have amazing sandwiches there) which was forgotten but after asking at the bar it wasn’t an issue at all. Had a fillet steak sandwich and a drink - cooked to my taste (medium) - amazing flavours, couldn’t fault it at all. The atmosphere is great, the dining room is massive and very well decorated.

We had booked a room for the night and we were joined by family to eat on the Saturday evening. We very much enjoyed our dinner, at times we had to wait or remind staff about our drinks we had ordered. Our room was fine and the bed was comfortable. We went down for breakfast at 08:45, we ordered our choices and then waited and waited, the restaurant was not busy, after 30 minutes I asked where our order was. We were advised, that the chorizo was just being browned and would out shortly. Other tables were now being served their food (ordered after us) another 15 minutes passed and again I had ask where our order was! Still we waited, eventually it arrived, it was hot, however mine had obviously been sitting on the plate under the hot lamps for some time. I was not going to send it back, we had a schedule to stick to. This blighted what had been an enjoyable stay. As we left, I heard other people complaining about the hourlong wait to be served. I think you can understand, that you need to improve your staffing and you need to ensure that the front of house staff , if need’s inform customers of the situation, if. we had known about the potential delay, we would have left, instead of staying...
