Booked a table for brunch, arrived virtually none else in the cafe. Ordered breakfasts with a few substitutions for items people did not like. Waited for over 30 mins, nothing... politely asked what was happening, reply "it's being cooked" errrrrr ok. After a further wait the breakfasts began to arrive. Turns out successfully organising 7 breakfasts was beyond them (bear in mind 2 of the dishes ordered were as per the menu with no alterations). The waitress arrives..."who ordered the breakfast without, Errr hang on, there's no sausages on this one...." Off she goes back to the kitchen. More dishes arrived, as we start eating I realise my breakfast is missing mushrooms and eggs, my son the says "mines missing it's bacon". Next comment from another at the table "could someone pass the white toast?" Nope because all they've given us is two baskets of wholemeal bread (again not the granary toast stayed on the menu).

All first world problems granted but given the breakfasts were all circa £10-£15 each, not brilliant by any stretch of the imagination. Won't be returning any time soon.

Over priced and senior lady serving clearly had a problem with the breakfasts having any substitutes (if it really was a problem, then simply say no).

Strongly wouldn't recommend, makes Wetherspoons look like a well...

We decided to go here for lunch. It was nice that there wasn’t only a carvery offered as there is with so many places around Devon on a Sunday. It is such a gorgeous place, with a 3.5mile walk to Tiverton for those that wish, very dog friendly (which is always a winner) and some lovely items in the shop area too. They’ve left much of the old mill components up so you have a really lovely atmosphere in the building. They have a gorgeous front outside area that was quite busy, with a beautiful and quite serene back patio too. Inside, where we sat, was lovely, quite cosy and lots of space between tables which was nice as the dogs didn’t have to be on top of each other. They had a fairly limited a la carte menu with delicious food! We had roast beef, pork shoulder, lasagne and a gorgeous pie. Food was to a really good standard. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Prices were quite reasonable. We spent £115 and had 4 mains, 2 extra sides, 4 desserts, a coffee plus drinks (soda, pint, 2xwines and iced coffee). I would certainly recommend stopping here or booking if you want a nice destination place to eat. There are quite a few single steps up and down inside moving around, but outside in the front garden area is flat for wheelchair access. Sadly I forgot to get pics of the food! But it...

Very pretty location and that is about it. Made a booking for three of us. Waited ages to be asked our order and drinks - I had to prompt (yes they were busy). I ordered roast beef, my friend ordered roast lamb and the other guibeafowl. I was served lamb and my friend got the beef, it wasn't until she bit into it that she realised it (good job I'm not allregic). There was more fat than meat on both the lamb and the beef, very unappealing and it was tough. Served a selection of bland undercooked hard vegetables including plain cauliflower (where is the cauliflower cheese!?). With some very thin gravy that there was not enough of. Along with some very pale roast potatoes. My friend with the lamb agreed with these comments. The other who had the guineafowl was luckier with what she was served although the meat was a bit dry. Paid £14 for it and I have never left leaving so underwhelmed, hungry and dispaointed after a roast dinner. Should have ordered something with chips that the neighbouring table had that looked much better! Was not worth the journey out, won't...

Another lovely visit to Bickleigh Mill! Mrs and I enjoyed yet another cracking meal, large fish and chips this time, cooked to perfection with deliciously crispy batter. We shared a treacle tart with custard for dessert (a noble act of compromise!) and paired it all with a couple of drinks each. Great value, as always. Despite the Bank Holiday drizzle, the place was bustling. Clearly, a bit of British weather doesn’t put anyone off. We sat outside under cover and enjoyed the peaceful setting, enhanced by the occasional toot of the steam train next door and the proud strut of the resident peacock. The staff were their usual warm, friendly, and down-to-earth selves. Now that we’re locals, we’ve been back several times and we’ll certainly keep coming back. There’s something quietly magical about this place.

A firm favourite of mine is Bickleigh Mill, a family run restaurant housed in former Mill (my mother in law used to work in it in the 60's). They have been producing some excellent value food for years, and we visited a while back to take advantage of their Sunday menu. Best roast potatoes I've had eating out for a very long time. Crisp and flavourful, the whole meal was a success. There was a small incident with some milk, but this didn't overshadow our experience and will be returning for their Sunday roasts as soon as I can. On a previous occasion the manager printed out some photos of the mill during it's working life for my mother-in-law. It was a very special visit as it was not long after my father in law passed away. The food is consistent, good value and the staff are incredibly accommodating.
