Absolutely amazing service, we phoned to book a table only a few hours before dinner service began and was very easily accommodated. When we arrived it was very quiet, I almost felt bad about bringing our two children especially as there were signs everywhere saying no children at the bar... However when we sat at our table the server brought out a game of noughts and crosses for the children to play and got our order in. I asked to bring the childrens' as soon as possible knowing our meals would take longer to cook and they did. That kept the kids quiet and happy and their portions were very generous! Onto our meals, I chose the duck breast with hoisin sauce and dauphinoise potatoes and wow! I was not disappointed the duck was perfectly cooked and the sauce was amazing, the dauphinoise potatoes had a delicious crispy top and soft creamy centre and it came with a separate plate of vegetables which were also cooked to perfection. My partner chose the stilton burger and he could not complain either. Again the portions were very generous, we didn't even have room for dessert! All of this and we were finished and paid within the hour! Now I understand the dauphinoise and vegetables would have been precooked to get everything to us that quickly but you honestly couldn't tell and it was great for us as it meant the children didn't get bored and hungry waiting for their food for ages and it was late for our youngest so it meant we could get her back home for a decent bed time still! We came on holiday but we plan to return and will definitely be making another...

Food was delicious. We arrived at 7 pm where we ordered our drinks and sat down. However, nobody came to our table so we could order food until gone 7:40. When we ordered we were told that there was no pie which we should have been told to start of with. We received our starter at 8:15 after asking twice where it was. They very speedily took our starter plates before one on our table had finished his mouthful. At 8:30- an hour after we had ordered, we were told there was no ham available so we had to choose something else. This happened to multiple tables who also arrived at the same time. After asking again where our main was one dish came out and was given to someone on our table. However apparently it wasn’t our dish and so they took it away without saying a word and gave it to another table !! That is a food hygiene hazard and should not have been done, another dish should have been bought out for the intended person. We eventually received our food about 9 pm. The food was lovely ! They apologised for the wait and paid for our drinks however multiple tables were in the same situation and they were clearly over booked for the amount of kitchen staff they had. Also we were given solid wooden chairs with no cushions on which after sitting on for about an hour became very uncomfortable so I had to take cushions from another table. Overall the food was delicious but the wait time was shocking and there were multiple tables in the...

Absolutely beautiful Sunday lunch here. We pulled up on the off chance they could squeeze us in and they could thankfully, in the marquee which is beautifully decorated with views of the pretty flower filled entrance to the pub The lady who greeted me was very welcoming and friendly. Our order was taken quickly by a lovely young waitress who then brought our drinks - she wasn't the least bit fazed by the wasp or my children's flailing arms as she put the glasses down on the table so that deserves a medal in itself! My youngest son and I had the beef roast dinner: heaps of meat which was cooked perfectly, huge home made Yorkshire and roast potatoes, then a generous side dish of vegetables to share which were actually cooked not flesh steamed. My other 2 children ordered from the children's menu and both enjoyed theirs too. I was really impressed with how quickly the staff were bobbing back and forth the pub and the marquee either serving up or checking on guests, we never felt abandoned or forgotten. 100%...

Went to an anniversary party here for my parents. 40 of us for dinner, service was good & food tasty also piping hot. However We had 1 person who needed disabled access, now I appreciate its a very old building however the gully next to the main road that we had to drag the chair through was less than ideal, lots of rubbish, overgrown also no flat ramp to go across. Maybe something that you should address. The bar area ia cosy but could do with brightening up with some more lighting, not a criticism but a suggestion. Would definitely return x
