Read moreHaving turned off th M5 motorway northbound at junction 27 owing to absolute traffic chaos, we almost settled for a MC Donalds at the services.
When a Google maps search for 'pubs with overnight parking for motorhome', The Merry Harriers came up as the closest, being less than 10 minutes away.
A telephone call to confirm an overnight stay and a reservation for a takeaway meal, and we were on our way.
The professionalism, warm and inviting welcome were probably the best I've experienced in a long time.
A pint of fine craft ale accompanied the sumptuous griddled burger, together with the most excellent thick cut 'proper' chips and accompanying side salad. A small pot of tomato relish (homemade?) topped it off very nicely.
A good sized overflow carpark across the road accomodated our 7.5m motorhome easily.
I really can't recommend The Merry Harriers enough.
Whether you're just dining out, or like us, in the motorhome going somewhere and your plans change, pay a visit...

The desserts tasted a little canteen in flavour, and I was told they are assembled from pre bought ingredients rather than made from scratch which was obvious to me in the taste. Our kilner bottle of water also had algae growing round the...
