Lovely friendly staff, tables outside, this is a great traditional country pub for summer afternoons as well as cosy winter evenings. Stopped off for a great burger dinner, one chicken and one veggie, really good hand cut chips, coleslaw and tasty fillings. Good to see a range of tasty vegetarian options (not the poor choice of two that so many pubs provide). We noticed several take-out meals were also served while we ate outside so seems a popular choice. Locally brewed Strummer ale was smashing too. Very difficult to fault.

Just moved to the village so we booked a table on Sunday night for 4 just before we were going to leave my nephew and his girlfriend arrived to visit our house so we rang the pub to see if we could increase our party size which was okay, the staff were very helpful and friendly and the Sunday roast was fantastic really good quality and value,

We stopped by for dinner and had some lovely food. The staff are warm and welcoming we were seen by a lovely attentive waitress. The prices are on point and there is a good range of drinks and food on offer as well as the occasional specials board. Dogs are welcome and I highly recommend if you are looking for a good dinner option.

We visited this lovely pub in a group of six women whilst staying in a local property, and accessed it via a half hour walk along a long county road. Our food was delicious and all arrived swiftly and at the same time- vegan and gluten free options carefully catered for- and the service was super-friendly and attentive. We really had a lovely meal (huge portions too!) and would recommend the venue and staff alike. Upon leaving, when unable to book a cab for our return journey in the dark (despite trying the plentiful cab numbers proffered by the lovely staff) we were offered a lift home from the chef at the end of his shift! Above and beyond; thanks again for a lush meal with friendly service finished with a genuine helping of kindness. We really appreciated everything you did for us and...

This is. A beautiful pub in a gorgeous rural location. The staff are incredibly friendly and the service was quick. It actually makes me sad to write this review however I almost feel obliged to do it. The Black Horse has officially served me the worst Sunday roast I have ever eaten, there was absolutely nothing redeemable about it. My wife and I went through 2 boats of gravy trying to combat the dry meat, reheated potato’s and utter lack of flavour and even then we determined we would have been better off at toby carvery. I’m not sure what was on the cauliflower but it was undercooked and completely unseasoned, rest of the the veg was simply steamed. Don’t come here for a roast there are at least 5 pubs within 10 minutes driving distance that charge less for...

First visit for Sunday lunch and won’t be back. Overpriced and prepackaged, frozen food. The vegetables were out of a freezer, the roast potatoes and stuffing balls were Aunt Bessie’s, and the roast beef was thinly cooked, prepackaged. The only freshly cooked ingredient was the Yorkshire pudding, which came out slightly burned. Neither of us could finish our meals. At £19.99 this was overpriced for a Sunday lunch that was at best mediocre, and more expensive than other places in the area such at the Dennington Queen, Dennington, and the Four Horseshoes, Thornham Magma, where the food is cooked fresh and much better quality at a lower price....
