Big shout-out to Riza/Ryza/Risa/Riser (pretty sure there’s an ‘I’ and an ‘S’ in there somewhere - apologies to the alphabet if I got it wrong 😅). She asked me to leave a review, so here it is: service here is fantastic.

The girls behind the counter actually make you feel welcome and chatty, which is rarer than a perfectly fried chip. I’m in here often enough that they’re probably sick of the sight of me by now - but credit where it’s due, they still smile and make me feel like a valued customer instead of a chip addict with no self-control.

The food? Well… sometimes it’s golden perfection, sometimes it’s a mystery experiment from the fryer - roll the dice and see. Napoli’s will sell you a bag of chips big enough to feed a small army for less money, and yes, their chips are better value so it lost one star for me.

But here? The rest of the food is 5-star quality, honestly better than Napoli’s - just a bit too pricey for my liking.

So: five stars for the smiles and the service, three stars for the chips as sometimes i'm forced to feed the ducks my chips (hasn’t happened recently, to be fair... and an extra bonus star just for keeping me guessing how to spell anyone’s name in this place.

Fish and sausage were fine, but the chips were tragic - chewy fryer scraps that even the ducks would’ve turned down. Paid for a large portion, got a bag of regret. Had to remove the stars as a result.

I do not rate the service here at all. I came in and made a very simple order (chips, small sausage and a pie) all of which were pre-cooked other than the small sausage. It was insanely cold waiting in here as the door was kept open yet they left us waiting for around 25 minutes just to cook a small sausage. Everyone after us had been served before us and we heard the staff talking and mentioning they made the wrong item in our order (they cooked a small cod instead of a small sausage). They didn't decide to communicate with us and didn't even seem apologetic at all... Poor communication skill between both the staff and to us!

Bare in mind, they had 5+ jumbo sausages sat in the heater, they didn't simply decide to give us a jumbo sausage as an apology of making us wait 20 minutes already, they just went and cooked a small sausage and made us wait for that. I don't really understand the logic of that as I would want to ensure customer loyalty as a small business with a lot of close-by competition?

Nonetheless, the food was great but the staff's level of service was questionable and really put me off. Generally customers come for a nice and quick affordable but decent meal when you're hungry... All we got was a decent...

I visited the shop today and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience with the customer service. The girl working seemed to have little to no manners and was extremely rude, with a face like thunder throughout the entire transaction. I understand that working on a bank holiday can be stressful, but there is no excuse for treating customers in such a disrespectful way.

As someone who has previously enjoyed meals from this takeaway, it was sad to see the normally good service allow their staff to act in this manner. I hope that management takes this feedback seriously and takes steps to improve the customer service going forward.

While the food itself was still enjoyable, the poor customer service unfortunately put a damper on the entire experience. Overall, I was disappointed by my visit and would be hesitant to return in the future if the customer service remains...
