DON’T GO HERE
DON'T GO HERE. Went to this restaurant at 7.30 p.m on a Sunday night. Just a couple of other diners, but they left soon after our arrival. It was obvious from the start that they knew they were not going to be busy, so the quicker they could get us fed and out the better for them. It was a constant rush. Immediately we were told that they closed at 9 pm, their website says 10 pm, which annoyed us, even before we had eaten we were told this. Then it was all systems go. We ordered a bottle of wine with our meal only to be told half way through it that we could take the rest of the bottle home if we wished. In other words, hurry up and drink it or take it with you. They were even rushing us through that. Waiters were constantly coming over to ask us to choose next course. Food was very bland and unappetising, Balti was a disaster on a plate. By 8.30 pm two of the waiters already had their coats on ready to go. No hot towels were given, after all, that would have added 2 more minutes to our stay and that wouldn't do would it? Bill was presented before we had even asked for it. I have never, ever, been an Indian restaurant where you were simply not wanted or welcome. In my experience and I have been in many, many Indian restaurants, staff are welcoming and are very pleased you have chosen to dine there. Maybe they wanted to get home and watch Big Brother or something, who knows. We were calling an Uber for trip back, but felt so unwelcome and uncomfortable that we waited 15 minutes outside, in the cold, for it to arrive. They were even hoovering as we exited. So, save yourself money and indigestion...
Read moreThe worst, and disappointing place to eat. The restaurant service is the worst i have had in my life, in any country i've been to. To add on, the food had the worst quality as well, the chicken meat was uncooked and the lamb had no taste and very very hard to shew.
Now the coustomer service, i will try to provide as much details as i can about the waiter that waited for me. The person that waited for me was an Bangladesh i think, the person was bald and cannot communicate in English at all, which im not sure what he is doing in UK.
As he first approched my table, all i see was a very heavy attitude with broken english, and every word he said was more like criticism. And when there was an issue with the food, he bluntly said that "every other coustomer eats the food this way and it was my problem that i didnt like the food". Even doner meat out of a food truck has more flavour then the lamb he served. And soon after the chicken Briyani, had uncooked chicken which smelled wired as well, and the texture was rubber like.
My personal and a very big suggestion, would be to not go to this restaurant, and waste your time and money in a place that does not respect you and your tastes. And I been in UK long enough, to see whi h are good and which are messed up restaurants, and PURPLE MANGO is the...
Read moreMy Dad & I went to Purple Mango last Tuesday & Wednesday- opting to go a second time because the Tuesday was brilliant.
Granted we have been to Purple Mango previously but there has been a massive gap and we are talking years. On the first night of us going I noticed a change to the inside and it looked great. Very inviting & spacious, and we picked the right time to go as the first night it started to fill up very quickly- party booking. The poppadoms and pickle selections was great as a small starter before the main meals, and all I can say is Wow. The flavours were intoxicating, and you could tell by just one bite that there were prepared from scratch. Going out to other Indiana restaurants I could tell that there there were but not with Purple Mango.
And it was the same on the second visit too, even when ordering different meals. The staff were both friendly and welcoming. And once again the restaurant began to fill up about half an hour or so after we arrived. Emphasising how great a restaurant it is to go to. Highly recommended establishment to go to for a excellent...
