Popped in for lunch, the staff (including the chef) were very kind and friendly but the food was incredibly poor quality. We came as a family and we actually appreciate a small menu when executed well, but there was so much waste, and what probably started out as decent ingredients was reduced to a bland puddle with highly processed vegan spreads (on a sausage dish!) and tasteless translucent gravy. It was truly terrible in a kind of comedy sketch way. It would be much more cost effective to use fewer but good quality ingredients. They do jacket potatoes well, so why not make that a speciality and get a bit inspired with different fillings? The cakes also looked pretty dry, seems the theme of the cafe is wasteful quantity over quality, and I really hope they manage to turn it around because it could be a charming...

Came here for lunch the other day, was squeezed in like a sardine, when my supposed Christmas Dinner arrived it was dry and clearly shop bought (tasted like processed meat) in a roll. 2 sprouts 2 carrots, 2 tiny potatoes, blinding. Read moreA very good cafe with a wide range of meals from soups and sandwiches to main meals. It can get very busy at peak times but the staff always work very hard to ensure that any queues are kept to a minimum and that tables are cleared quickly. There is also additional outdoor seating.
The cafe is very popular for Sunday lunches.
On our last visit we had a delicious celeriac soup with crusty bread. Most welcome indeed on a cold winter's day after a walk around...
