A really special stay. We were greeted by the manager. Who showed us to our accommodation. We stayed in the barn and it was modern, clean, warm and comfortable. Tea and coffee facilities along with towels and a little mint chocolate on the bed. We ate at the pub which had great food choice. I had sticky beef salad. For kids: Great food choice for simple kids favorites. The lady even gave my daughter a Princess pack of colouring books, dot-to-dot at the dinner table to keep her entertained. A really lovely touch. The pub was a proper pub and so felt cozy, friendly and had a typical English pub ambiance. The location was quiet. There were plenty of car parking spaces and nice walks over the back fields. Dog friendly: they are super dog friendly here. With bowls laid out and biscuits for your dog. 🐾 We didn't stay long enough to explore the area properly as we were taking part in a race at Gatton Park.

I had my 40th at the red lion. What an absolute triumph. The planning stage was easy! Marc catered to my every whim. I was able to amend and adjust the menu and not how delicious! The starters were so good most guests thought they couldn’t manage the main. And then, that smorgasbord of deliciousness came out and all the plates were empty in no time. The food service throughout dinner is the best I have experienced at any venue. The drinks service before dinner - fabulous. All of this was in the immaculately decorated marquee! Then we had the party in the pub! The DJ area Marc have us made it so cozy and intimate. The drinks flowed, the venue looked amazing! I cannot rave highly enough about the Red Lion and Cellar rooms.

A must visit pub in Reigate/Betchworth!!! A family/cricket friendly pub with a lot of space inside and outside. Well, if you are a cricket fan you must visit this place. This pub located very next to Reigate Pilgrims Cricket Club. Clubs play cricket both Saturday and Sunday. I believe few games are going in weekdays as well. Pub has a very nice collection of country beer, other usual brands, amazing food, very friendly staff, beautiful view to the cricket pitch, enough space for parking cars/motor bikes. Gates sperate parking for cricket players. I recommend to visit with friends or family or even alone. It's amazing. This pub won't disappoint you.

This weekend, I pressed pause on Nothing Ventured to enjoy some much-needed girly time. BUT — I’m always working! I won’t be reviewing my Thursday night on the parents' bunk beds (take that as you will 😅), but here’s my take on the ⭐⭐⭐ Red Lion and Cellar Rooms — a quirky countryside gem in Betchworth, Surrey.||Just 4.8 miles from Box Hill and 10 miles from Chessington World of Adventures, this pet-friendly pub is ideal for walkers and weekenders with their four-legged friends in tow.||✨ Getting There & Checking In|Six of us were heading to the races, so we arranged to meet at the pub's free car park, with a coach collecting us at 12:15. After chatting with Marc, the friendly landlord, we were offered early check-in at 11:30, which meant we could drop our bags before prosecco o’clock began. (Let’s be honest, no one knew if we’d make it back up the stairs later!)||We quickly popped our bags upstairs and returned to the bar for a cheeky drink in the cozy armchairs by the fireplace (thankfully not lit — it was roasting!).||🍾 Race Day Return & Charity Night Vibes|After a day of laughter and flowing fizz, we returned to find a gorgeous garden table reserved just for us. A charity quiz night and raffle in aid of breast cancer was underway, adding a buzzing atmosphere.||The garden is expansive and well thought out: tented gazebos, heaters, oak-glass tables, fairy lights, and even blankets on hand for when the night cools down. It’s the perfect mix of rustic charm and creature comforts.||🍽️ Dinner & Drinks|Despite the BBQ feeding over 150 people, we ordered from the gastropub-style menu. There were vegan, vegetarian and alternative options too. Service? Impeccable. The staff were friendly and attentive all evening, and not a single crumb was left on any plate. (Always a good sign!)||We even had a mini raffle win — well...one of us did, so we all shared the joy with a little stroll. Only one of us managed pudding... plus the friend who famously says, "Are you going to finish that?" (You know who you are!😉) It looked divine.||🌟 Late-Night Lounging & Thoughtful Touches|As the quiz night wrapped up, we moved to the gazebo area to enjoy more bubbles and hot drinks under the heat lamps. Marc stopped by again, chatting about our day and genuinely welcoming feedback, even though this wasn’t our first stay. It’s clear he cares about your experience.||Despite not usually offering breakfast, Marc kindly arranged for us to have breakfast rolls at 10am, which was such a thoughtful way to wrap up the weekend.||🛏️ The Rooms|The Red Lion offers:||1 Deluxe King Room with ensuite & bathtub||8 Double Rooms with ensuites||1 Twin Room with ensuite||I had a double to myself for the night at just £89 — a steal for what’s provided. Clean, airy, and fully equipped with:||Chocolates on the pillows||Tea & coffee station with biscuits and bottled water (just missing my usual bugbear... no hot chocolate!)||Ironing board, heater, fan (a blessing for my night-sweat stage of life!)||TV with pleanty of channels||Walk-in shower and separate toilet||Room service menu and excellent Wi-Fi (great, since mobile signal is limited — but who needs it when you’re in good company?)||🍳 Farewell Feast|In the morning, we came down to a table set just for us and enjoyed bacon, sausage, and egg baps with orange juice. Although breakfast isn't a regular offering, after that spread — maybe it should be!||Final Thoughts|This pub is an absolute countryside gem — ideal for weekend stays, private parties in the Cellar Rooms, or even special events like weddings. Marc and the team work tirelessly to get the details just right and make each guest feel welcome, comfortable, and part of the family.||We made memories, laughed until it hurt, and were genuinely looked after. Thank you Marc and team — we’ll be back. 🩷 And if your looking for a little country gem in the Surrey Hills area, look no further! ||#NothingVentured #JetSetSuzi #girlsweekend #ladiesnight...

We had booked our wedding at a local hotel chain and realised that it wasn’t going our special day, the day we wanted, all too corporate and all about numbers.|One evening I saw 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 reviews for The Red Lion & Cellar Room on several local Facebook pages, they all expressed exactly the same sentiments, that this is an amazing proper Old Fashioned English Pub with the atmosphere that you rarely find these days, this is not only down to the beautiful pub itself but also 100% to Marc and his awesome team, they go above and beyond to make your visit memorable.|We visited for Sunday Lunch to see if it was as good as the recommendations said it was and we both immediately said to each other that this was the perfect venue for our special day.|Sunday Lunch was the best we’ve ever had in a pub/restaurant the food was amazing, proper Sunday Lunch cooked to perfection, served by an incredible happy friendly team. This is a rarity in this day and age.|We spoke to Marc who couldn’t be more accommodating about what we wanted for our special day and his immediate response was “it’s your day we’ll make it your special day” we knew we had chosen the perfect place to celebrate our wedding.|Since that Sunday we have taken several of our wedding party for Sunday Lunch and they were all equally blown away by The Red Lion & Cellar Room or as our 6 year old bridesmaid calls it “The Celery Rooms” |We spent Christmas Day 2024 there and the atmosphere blew us away, it was packed and reminded us how local pubs used to be, you don’t get this anymore which is so sad 😞 but Marc and his awesome team have nailed it.|We then spent New Years Eve 2024 there and stayed over … oh my goodness this really made us realise that we have definitely chosen the perfect place to have our wedding. What an amazing night, the atmosphere was amazing, we were all dancing, laughing, singing and partying together like you would have in your proper old fashioned English local pub years ago, it makes you realise what is missing from your so called local these days.|Thankfully Marc and his awesome team at The Red Lion & Cellar Room (or The Celery Rooms!!) have this nailed in abundance 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟|The rooms are beautiful, comfortable and clean and again it’s extremely hard to find this hospitality in this day and age.|We can’t wait for our wedding because we know that it will be the most amazing day that we will remember forever 🍾🍾🥂🥂💃🕺🎉🎉|Thank you Marc and your lovely team for keeping the tradition of the traditional English pub...

My wife and myself and her two brothers and two sisters with their partners all stayed for one night mid week.|All of her brothers and sisters had lived in and around the village at some point as children and had fond memories of the pub . |Mark the owner greeted each couple as they arrived and along with all of his lovely staff continued to be very attentive and helpful throughout the rest of the evening. The building itself is full of character with lots of interesting things to look at and lots of places to tuck yourself away for a bit of privacy. At present it is all decorated for Christmas and all the ceiling is covered with lots and lots of Christmas baubles .|Their is a competition to guess how many there is.|There is a excellent selection of bears wines and spirits and when we visited there where three real ales on the pump.|We all had a evening meal and the choice and variety was excellent there was eight of us and all of are meals arrived at the same time everything was very tasty and we where all surprised at the excellent value for money.|We all stayed in the rooms and had a very peaceful nights sleep ,are room was very clean and tidy and in good repair. The only criticism we could we could give the room is that it decoration is probably now due for a freshen up .The room was clean and all the bed linen and towels were lovely. and the price for the room was very good value.|All in all brilliant customer service and...
