Holbury Fish Bar — Restaurant in New Forest

3.5/5. Visited 5 times over a 6 week period as was my local chippy. 1st visit fish and chips everything amazing. Cod was chunky fillet chips was cooked to perfection. well what happened from my first visit i have no idea. I ordered kebab and chips Donner. Donner was dry not much chili sauce and garlic mayo hardly any. So a quite dry kebab. So i changed my order 3rd visit to fish and chips. The fish not the same as the first visit lots of batter, lots of oil not much fillet. Chips tasted re cooked not fresh. Again i go kebab and chips again no sauce well hardly any when i asked specifically for plenty . Again i go i order fish and chips plenty of salt and vinegar. Comes with zero vinegar and little salt. Rushing i suspect!..... I order today sausage and batter chips curry Sauce and chips very very poor. curry sauce was possibly worst ever had and chips again can not get basic salt and vinegar correct. Chips not fresh tasting no crunch to the bite. Very very disappointed from a 5 star my first visit to a 2.5 to my last visit so overall a 3.5 out of 5. Sorry guys you need to improve. Instead of rushing the order take ride and care in what the customer actually asks for. Extremely disappointed as my first visit you left my high expectations to my last visit re cooked tasting not fresh chips to a very watery...

Excellent chip shop, always wondered why they sometimes Q outside. We stopped by on route to Calshot one day, (I drone film cruise ships hence always passing) mainly as they have good parking and I drive a silly large American pick up truck lol!! and its on the way, 5 mins to beach from here.

Food is really good, always a 5-10 min wait but price you pay for fresh cooked so no complaints.

But now if kids or wife aboard I'm ordered to stop off, which is fine but I'm tight as a ducks..... need fuel money..

But also to point out its far more than the average chippy the menu is huge, something for everyone.

I don't give 5 star that often and I'm a grumpy old tw.... so yes, recommend...

Stopped here to get my vegan daughter something quick on the way home. I asked the server what she would recommend for a Vegan. They recommend their vegetarian menu so I chose a spicy bean burger. When I got home my daughter took a bite and to her horror discovered there was a chicken fillet inside. I then revisited and explained their mistake to which I received a half hearted apology and smirks from team. There was no offer of a refund and I even had to request for the difference in price to be refunded. The staff are incompetent, unprofessional and rude I would not...
