This is one of the best McDonald's in the country. As a county traffic cone coordinator, it is my job to travel the country looking at all the traffic cones. This means I end up going to lots of McDonald's all the time and in recent months I have begun noticing many subtle differences in the food between different McDonald's the same way you might with a fine wine or whiskey. I have managed to get this McDonald's tasting art down to an exact science. A couple of weeks ago I was on a business trip to Romsey to check out their traffic cone facilities when I was presented with the opportunity to test out their local cuisine. So naturally Mr and my partner Brenda (they/them) went to McDonald's. Much to our great surprise, this McDonalds had somehow cracked the formula with the best McDonalds we'd had in a long time. The nuggets had the perfect crispy exterior yet a lovely soft interior, none of that horrible chewy texture you get elsewhere. The burgers are also seemingly cooked to a much higher standard than the other McDonald's I've been to. The food texture and flavour is superior! Another thing we have been judging McDonald's restaurants on is the service and speed. This McDonalds did not let us down with the service speed and service quality on all 5 occasions where we went there during our weekend trip. Whereas other McDonald's in the area like Salisbury and Southampton made us wait up to an hour before serving cold chewy McDonald's that was not even what we ordered and frankly not worth the money. We have had similar experiences elsewhere and in our home town of Norfolk. McDonalds has a fundamental flaw in their system and it needs to be fixed. This McDonald's doesn't suffer from this issue though and I highly recommend you go there rather than any other McDonalds in the area (don't go to rownhams services) Went...
Read morePlace was absolutely filthy inside, bins were over flowing, tables and floors were covered in rubbish, the sauce dispenser was covered in bbq sauce and ketchup,If it was busy in there I could understand but it was dead. All the staff sounded to be larking around in the kitchen area out of site. They had a box of chips on the floor with a bag of open chips on top that they then placed the chip basket on the box to fill it up with the chips ( which is probably why the staff were sliding about all over the floor. Not forgetting the lad that used the chip scoop to flick the fries that had fallen out of the chip sleeves back into the chip scuttle to serve again (baring in mind they hadn't served any chips in the 10 minutes I'd been waiting). Add to that the nice spray bottle of raid on the counter. Next comes the food. As always its cheap and cheerful after a 10 hour shift, but christ can the staff even read, if I order a grilled chicken wrap, and you print the label saying grilled chicken the screen says grilled chicken wrap yet they cook me fried chicken I tend to think the staff need to return to school, and where was my cucumber?? Side salad no cucumber, and wrap no cucumber. Then comes the big mac that was made with so much love the burger was folded in half and there was more filling in the box than in the burger. And why is the odour coming through the staff door like pure human poo??
I actually went out to the door to check the food hygiene rating and am still at a loss to how it has a 5. It must be a mistake. Luckily I'm not an EHO for newforest council. There's no way it's...
Read moreI have to say this was probably my worst ever visit to any McDonald's restaurant. I visited with my wife and two children (3&6) after a nearly 200 mile journey to the start of a short break and we needed an evening meal. For this purpose McDonald's is usually a safe bet. However I was very disappointed at the state of this particular branch. There was hardly anywhere to sit because of the amount of rubbish left by previous customers. Nobody was clearing up at all. It could just be lazy customers but the clear away stations were also overflowing with rubbish. Nobody seemed to care about this branch. It was eventually tidied up by a member of staff about 45 minutes later. A fault on the system meant it was almost impossible to place my order and when I did manage it took a while for it to be ready. It looked like drive throughs were being given preference over in store customers. Serviettes were not readily available nor were there any pots for sauces. On the plus side my order was accurately prepared. At this branch there is a playground for young children which is a welcome addition. However I find that it doesn't match with the carpark rules. It takes a few minutes to park up and get your family out of the car. It takes a while to order and receive your food. It takes a good while to eat that food and drink to be able to enjoy it. Also children forget about time when they are in a playground. Yet, unless you are out of the carpark with 90 minutes of driving into it, you will be fined for overstaying. The two don't match. I would suggest this branch is best for drivethrough and...
