Ok so I went here with the family for an evening meal on a Saturday evening, we didn't book just turned up and asked for a table. Decor was traditional. Maybe if I was being picky I could say it looked 'dated' but I like a place with a bit of character. Staff were nice, friendly and welcoming. We ordered 2 adult mains, 1 childs main meal and some side orders for my youngest (he can be a fussy eater) The meals were all home cooked and did have that feel to them which I liked. Portion sizes were very generous. I ordered the steak and onion pie with chips and veg. The pie took up the full plate and the chips and vegetables came on separate dishes. It was delicious. My wife and daughter both had lasagne which again was nice and a generous portion. Also I had a pint of the Red Lion Ale which went down very nicely. The only reason(s) I haven't awarded 5 stars were. 1, the food was not as piping hot as I like it. Don't get me wrong it wasn't cold but I like my food piping hot and this wasn't. 2, it took a while to clear the plates from the main and take our dessert order. Read moreCalled there today with my father and son. . Was so happy to see sign on the door saying dogs welcome even though I didn't have my dogs with me. Was welcomed straight away by the staff. Just so friendly . My father and son had small fish and chips with mushy peas. It was a very good portion size.Chips were what I call home made. Very morish. I asked for a chip salad as I'm vegan.
