Used to go here once a week before it closed so have been eagerly awaiting its reopening. How disappointed were we. Took an age to get seated, even though it was not busy, then squeezed between 2 other occupied tables, so close that you felt you were all sitting on the same table! We both had, so called steak, 1/4 inch thick, grey looking and tough, mushroom undercooked and served stone cold as was the grilled tomato. No condiments on the tables, asked for mustard when we ordered, never came so had to wait another 5 minutes after the meal had arrived for that. Waitress came back after about 10 minutes to ask if it was alright, told her the steak was tough and the majority of the meal cold, people on the next table said theirs was cold too. We were not prepared to wait another 1/2 hour for another meal to be cooked, because to be honest apart from it being warmer there was no way the steak was going to be any better. Ending up leaving 30% of the meals as did the people on the next table who had burgers. Over 15 minutes after finishing no one had come to take our, or the people next to us, plates away, so at this point we decided to forget a sweet and go and pay. We made it known to the manager that the meal had been poor and cold, to which he said they had offered to redo it and was not prepared to take anything off the bill. Ended up with a bit of a stand up argument as he was quite rude, but he was happier to know that bad feedback would be left, as well as us definitely not recommending them by word of mouth, rather than reduce the bill a bit. To further add insult to injury, when we got home and looked at the bill, they had charged £4.10 for a Britvic orange juice with a dash of lemonade!! What an absolute rip off. BEWARE!!! Wish I didn't have to give them...

Went as part of a party of eight last Sunday evening, and first impressions when walking in were very encouraging, then all down hill from there I'm afraid to say. The lady taking our drinks order, only six of us at that time, was writing the drinks down which was done very slowly and then began to pour them but kept asking me to repeat what they were, instead of the normal way of doing each drink as you order. We were shown to our table before she had finished, and again, first impressions were very nice decor and good table. This didn't last long as I quickly noticed the menu cards laid out on the table were headed as SUNDAY LUNCH, we asked if the evening menu was available and was told no that was it as they only serve Sunday lunch all day . It didn't say all day on the menu but that is what it is, this wasn't stated when the booking was made. The waiter went away and next we got a visit from a Italian bloke who we assume is the manager, with there other menu but said he could only provide any of the pizzas from it, he could see we were not happy and came back again to add a couple of rump steaks as well, which two of our party did order. The starters came and were nicely presented but not vert hot, then came the mains a good twenty mins or so after. Again these were cold and for the price very average, when the waiter came to collect our plates we politely told him that the food wasn't that hot and he replied that we were not the first people to make that comment and he passed it on and on his return said the chef apologised . We did order some sweets , which I have to say went down well, which was the only good thing about the whole experience. WE DEFINITELY WILL NOT BE RETURNING or...

Where to start with this. At 5:30 Sunday tried to ring up to make reservations for 6 adults and 1 child. 25 minute was spent trying to get through to no avail. It has been 3 years since we have been to a long time standing family venue. Upon arrival it was a pleasant surprise to see the decor and revamp changes to the property, the car park how ever is something to be desired. Entering the pub was a sight to see a whole new view to the restaurant scene. When we got to the bar asked for seating and it was a quick seat and order how ever the meals were something else half of the menus items were not available after a peak in custom the day before after back and forth with the manager waiters and what can only be described as a geriatric Italian waiter we finally had some way in form of a meal set out.

Half an hour later we had our food, the chips had little to no potato left inside them. The meats had no counter dish or sauce to hand to make the meal more equal and enjoyable everything seemed to be either dry dripping or watery to say the meals value accumulated had been over £100 it wasn't that great. The waiter had spilled meat juice over my camera bag with £600 worth of photography equipment I was hoping to write a pleasant review with photos of everything I had expected but that isn't the case.

The meals were COLD starchy and really not worth the value my dad is a chef and I expect the same quality I would get at home.

The manager had been rather rude to my mum on payment as she tried to give feedback on issues with our visit he was abrupt and inexperienced in customer service skills. Regrettably we won't be making any future bookings if the standards don't...

Heard a lot about the Dog & Duck so thought it was time to try this place out with the family. Looking by the menu, it seemed on the expensive side, so I was expecting quality food. Their was nothing on the starters that took any of our fancy so we opted for the while we wait nachos, Wow.. what an amazing start, not just a bowel of nachos but a huge board full, loaded with cheese and chilli beef. This was plenty for us to all dip into. What a good start. Next up was mains, 2 x beef blades, 1 x rack of sticky ribs and 1 x lamb. The plating looked beautiful and inviting for all the dishes. The beef was the biggest cut and so tender. Perfect 10 out of 10 Our daughter the fussy eater who normally has chicken nuggets 24/7 surprised us when she opted for ribs. The best meat she has ever had was her comments, she got right stuck in and licked her fingers clean. Another 10 out 10 Our other daughter chose the lamb. She is actually a chef herself so she criticises everything. The lamb cuts to be fair was small and her plate looked miniscule in comparison to everyone else. The lamb was not the greatest, slightly tough, and fatty However she still gave this 7 /10 so from a chef pretty decent I think. Surprisingly we had room for desert. We all opted for cookie dough a mix of chocolate, toffee and strawberries. Oh yes.. just what you want, something naughty and delicious and that is exactly what it was. With a few pints, a short, cocktails and soft drinks the bill came to £164 Was it worth it.. absolutely, I paid £180 leaving the rest as a tip and would have happily paid more. Will I go back... yes... I'm already planning on the next visit.

Hugely disappointed. My wife has been a few times with her friends and had a pleasant experience on each occasion. When looking for somewhere to go for our wedding anniversary it seemed a good choice from the feedback she had given me. Rang and booked a table the day before without any issues as I wanted to make sure all would go smoothly on our visit. On arrival we were greeted by one of the waitresses and we were promptly shown to our table. All going OK so far. Asked for a shandy and a coke and then ordered our meals. The drinks arrived fairly quickly and then around 20 minutes later our meals arrived. At first glance all sorted of seemed OK so we made a start on the meals only to feel very disappointed by them. When one of the waitresses came to ask how the meals were we informed her they wasn't great and she walked off. The shandy tasted like it had been threatened with the alcohol. There was a large group of people having a meal in the lower area and all focus by the waiters and waitresses seemed to be aimed in their direction leaving all other attendees to fend for themselves. I did hear another visitor express their disappointment with their meal too. Being totally honest I just wanted to pay the bill and go as I felt like the whole experience spoiled what should have been a special occasion. Attached is a picture of what seemed like a microwave meal that had been sitting around a while.
