This tea room does not open until 10 am, so it’s perfect for a mid morning visit after a few hours of walking. We visited today and were impressed by the variety of cakes and sweet pies on offer as well as a decent selection of hot food items.

We had a green tea, a gluten free cake, an egg and bacon bap with a decaf coffee.

All were lovely except the coffee which to be honest was a waste of money. Unlike the many other tea rooms I have visited this year, the decaf coffee was presented as a bag in a plastic brewing cover placed on top of the coffee cup. Think the old style “Rombouts” coffee and you get the picture. After pouring in hot water I waited and waited for it to filter into the cup. After 8 minutes YES 8 minutes I couldn’t wait any longer. The cup was only 2/3rds full and the plastic brewing cup still had a good bit of water in it.

The coffee was obviously by now just warm and tasted awful. I threw the drink away.

I went back in to give feedback on the lovely food and tea but the awful coffee. The guy behind the counter said sorry but that he too didn’t like the “filter “ coffee here!! There was no offer of refund nor of a replacement drink. That to me gives them a zero for customer service.

Would I visit again? Probably yes but only for the food.

5 stars for the food. Zero stars for customer care. Zero stars for their...

We had just walked the coast path to The Valley of Rocks. This little gem was like an oasis in the desert. It has a beautiful garden with wooden picnic benches, nestled under old trees, brimming with a myriad of wild birds. We had some lovely ice creams & drinks but the beautiful home-made fruit pies, tarts & cakes were hard to resist. Eventually I relented & bought a slice of lemon, lime & orange cake to take away. They also serve sandwiches, pasties, savoury pies & quiches. The staff were very welcoming & friendly. As so many walkers go there with their dogs, there are lots of water bowls in the gardens for their thirsty, four-legged friends. If you drive, rather than just walk, to the Rocks there is a car park right next...

Had high hopes. Beautiful location, sunny day, been for a nice walk along the coastal path. However, this place is very disappointing and massively overpriced. ÂŁ47 for two cream teas, two sandwiches, two coffees and two J2Os. If the food had actually been good I perhaps wouldn't have minded but instead dry, almost stale bread for the sandwiches, strange spongy scones, and average coffee. I don't really like complaining as generally it makes you feel worse but I did and, to their credit, I was reimbursed the ÂŁ15 for the sarnies. The pies and cakes looked good so it should be pretty easy to have some fresh bread and buy in some better scones. Then it would be ok, but...

I had looked forwards to going here, it looked like a fabulous location for a cafe. A little disappointed in the selection of cakes and the service was a bit like dealing with people who had lost “that loving feeling” you know, when you don’t want to be there any more, maybe it had been a long day... Choice of cakes, flapjacks, chocolate and caramel coated shortbread bars, but not normal type cakes like Victoria sponge, carrot cake, ginger cake.. you get the drift, I chose the weirdly Christmassy mincemeat pie with ice cream, huge portion and tasted pretty good but I can’t help feel that the place needed standard cakes. The location is perfect

Nice and chatty with sumptuous platefuls of fruit pies - blueberry & apple, raspberry & apple and mincemeat & apple, served as homely piles on tea plates. We had a take away cream tea as well with huge scones which have a touch of sugar and bounce. The clotted cream's served as tennis ball sized scoops of perfect deliciousness. The garden's charming, with mature, shady trees and flowers amongst the picnic benches. The view of the Valley of the Rocks is spectacular and holds the promise of goats, ponies and sheep nestled in the foliage.
