My friend booked, and paid a deposit, several months ago to treat me to a 60th birthday lunch in The Coach House at Kentisbury Grange today (13.08.25). She also checked on Monday that the booking was in and if it could be remembered it was a milestone birthday! We were greeted by a member of staff with a mop and bucket who had no idea we were booked in and needed to check with the Chef that they could do lunch! Not the greatest start!! No greeting, no "Happy Birthday acknowledgement!
We could be served and told to pick any table as the restaurant was empty!
Asked to speak to the Manager about the situation who wasn't available, as having a cigarette break! Manager was spoken to about the situation and there was no apology whatsoever. We ate a main course and left shortly afterwards to have dessert and coffees somewhere where we could be treated as paying customers and not an inconvenience.
The Coach House used to be a great place once for special occasions and I have been several times over many years. Definitely won't...
Read moreEXCEPTIONALLY DISAPPOINTED at this restaurant . My husband and I booked this restaurant 2 months in advance as the place to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. When we arrived we were shocked they had NO record of our booking. As we tried to explain it as for a special occasion the young guy wasn't paying us any attention and said you can have the table by the door but there's nothing else available. We accepted the table but we were then ignored for quite some time. We were shocked at the menu which certainly did not live up to the pictures of food we had seen on their own website and ended up having what i can only describe as PUB GRUB. After the meal we decided to have a coffee and i asked if I could have a baileys liqueur coffee. I could not believe my eyes when i was brought a latte coffee with a shot of baileys delivered in a coffee mug ! How they managed to get onto the Michelin food guide is a mystery to us. Certainly a memorable 40th wedding anniversary meal but for all the...
Read moreWe have been to this fine dining restaurant twice now and on both occasions it has been sublime and I don't say that often. It is truly in a beautiful location and you can even stay in lodges there.
We had starters, mains and puddings, the food is some of the best I've tasted just beautiful cooked and presented.
Dogs are allowed in which is fantastic and the restaurant is spacious and very clean and comfortable.
I'm sure there's a fine choice of wines and alcohol, as I don't drink I can't really comment. But others enjoying there meals, also were enjoying a wide range of beverages.
It's a fantastic venue for family occasions and events, great staff ready to assist when you need them.
Don't delay and enjoy a fantastic night out wining and dinning a loved one, or treating a relative or friends to a exquisite night out.
No complaints, I'll definitely return to one of the best restaurants in Devon if not the UK, can't say better than...
