Im not sure where all the really good reviews came from but it wasn't a very nice experience for us, i very rarely do reviews but just had to after our meal... Firstly it is quite dark inside and needs updating, the man who showed us to our table muttered something about the information being on the board, later realised he meant the specials....my partner had poached prawns to start which she enjoyed, I thought the prawns were overcooked and chewy personally... I had pie of the day (chicken and bacon) with roast carrots and mash and braised cabbage, the pie was ok, there was one old looking carrot and a load of cabbage and the mash was dry and not very nice, my partner had crab linguine (£22) the overwhelming taste of the dish was lemon and just overall it wasn't nice to eat, im my opinion better off going to the rock inn, had a steak here tonight and it was phenomenal, she had the crab salad and it was delicious, the staff were so much more welcoming and nice also it was just a nicer place to be.

We managed to get a table for lunch at short notice which was great. We were sat in the newly decorated upstairs restaurant. The menu was reasonably priced. The restaurant was fairly busy. However there were a few disappointing factors. The window cill was thick with dust, the table itself was wobbly, we tried a beer matts under the feet however it was the table top. I had the hake off the Sunday menu and my partner had the lamb. The hake was well cooked (out of season green beans was a shame) overall it was a pleasant dish. My partners lamb, the lamb was well cooked and a reasonable price, all the vegetables were strongly flavoured with different herbs which was off putting. The colliflower cheese was very good. Will try a Friday or Saturday night soon

Wow, just had a Sunday roast there and wow, if my belly could talk it would be uttering happy things. I had the roast pork belly and my wife had the vegan Wellington and we could not fault it. The pork belly was rendered beautiful and the vegetables provided excellent contrasting flavours, red cabbage with star anise and honey roasted carrots. The Cauliflower, Broccoli and cheese could have been a meal on its own. The gravy was just sublime and finished it off perfectly. The staff were perfectly attentive without being overbearing. Wifey ranked it as a 10/10 which is high praise indeed, I'd give it 9.9/10 only because I'm greedy and wanted more, and a chunk of bread to mop up all the juices 😋

I made a booking based on the fantastic reviews of the Kings Arms on Trip Advisor and Google- I am happy to say I was not at all disappointed. Having travelled from Bristol, we have many establishments in the city renowned for excellent Sunday lunches, so we did have high expectations. On arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff, and it was really great, seeing that we were a large group seated in a private area, especially as we had young children in the group. The pub had a great drinks selection, and service was prompt with our food and drink order taken quickly. The Sunday lunches arrived in good time, and were steaming hot. We were immediately impressed by how the plate was dressed, the garnish of parsnip crisps were delicious. In fact, the whole lunch was absolutely divine, we couldn’t stop commenting on how tasty the food was. The whole group agreed it was the best Sunday roast we had ever had, and continued to talk about it during the day. The meat and vegetables were so well seasoned and fresh. Even my youngest daughter who had the kids spaghetti bolognese and is a fussy eater, thoroughly enjoyed her meal- she usually wastes food. We all enjoyed the puddings after too. My only real criticism is that we live so far away so won’t be visiting again for a while. However, we will certainly be returning at our earliest opportunity for the most amazing Sunday lunch. Thank you and compliments to the team at...

Staying locally for a summer break we looked for a place to eat out. The King's Arms filled that role admirably.

Booking a table was a necessity but straightforward. When an issue arose we were contacted straight away and an appropriate, alternative time arranged. Customers need to be aware that hospitality outlets are having difficulties as a result of the pandemic but we were quickly informed and a compromise sorted.

We received a friendly greeting and were shown to our table. Being on holiday, we had our dog with us and a more suitable table became available as some other customers were starting to leave. A quick swap was made, table cleaned and we were able to sit and explore the meals on offer. A lot of thought has gone in to the food served, don't expect the usual 'pub grub'. A drink order was taken and quickly arrived as we perused the menu. Sufficient time was allowed for decisions to be made and order to be taken.

The food was delicious; we both ordered curried courses and were impressed with both the ingredients and flavours produced. Owing to restrictions, the pub was not overcrowded and so conversations could be held at a normal level. Attention to the customer was not overbearing but was friendly, polite and considered.

We were promised an enjoyable experience and it was supplied in full. A place to check out if in this lovely corner of...

A little disappointing as we had a great meal here a couple of years ago and this was not as good. Firstly, despite a confirmatory email, they had no record of our booking but fortunately they weren't busy so were able to fit us in. The Sunday lunch menu was the standard roast fare but we decided to have a starter as well. My goats cheese 'en croute' consisted of a slice of goats cheese with a crispy piece of garlic bread (presumably the croute) and some bits of salad, smothered in balsamic vinegar. My wife's whitebait was mainly deep fried breadcrumbs. Disappointing to say the least. Our roast beef (served pink but not too rare for my taste) came with an enormous Yorkshire pudding, some overcooked and barely edible roast potatoes, and a variety of other veg, all under rather than over cooked. This course was acceptable and there was plenty of it so we didn't have room for a dessert. We each had a glass of prosecco to start with and I had a glass of malbec with the beef. Altogether the bill came to £63 for two people. Not excessive but the whole experience was rather...
