Fox & Hounds — Restaurant in North East Derbyshire

Well has it happens I told my Mrs about the experience I had at the fox and hounds. Now my Mrs is very particular in what she eats and we frequently use places that deliver. We are not posh or picky , but when you have kids and the world is like it is, robbing us with fuel , elec n shopping we make sure we get good value for money. Now my Mrs gave me the look when I mentioned somewhere new I said please come and try. She agreed . Fish , chips and garden peas , straight John , As it happens I did not get the look as that it’s ok marrrr , I will just eat it and have words with you later , happy wife happy life. I am always an upbeat person and my glass is always half full, but this week I have life’s kicks . Personal health issues and a death in the family. I came to the fox and hounds to relieve myself of the stress. I asked for a steak n chips n whatever comes with it. It arrives it looks fantastic, the first bite took my worries away and this is genuine, from the first bite to the last mouthful I can only describe the meal as perfection. After I finished I didn’t comment I had to just sit outside with my glass of red , I was in a place of tranquility for a good while and forgot my problems. Food was very nice. Sunday dinner was the best I've had in a long time. Took a long time to come but they were very busy. A good pint aswell. What wasn't very good was the lack of covid rules being enforced. A group of blokes were continually going up to the bar, and wandering around, without masks. They remained totally unchallenged by the staff. Everyone else in the establishment was adhering to the rules. When my mother in law complained one of the group wafted a mask in her face. The manager was very unapologetic, "what can we do?". Well, no mask, no service, no entry!!!! Won't be rushing back...
