Pub looks good but the rest doesn't live up to expectations. Staff are friendly and you get the feeling they want to help but lack the training and experience at the moment to really follow through with this. We tried to have a game of pool but the wrong white ball had been ordered so everytime the white was potted, the whole table needed to be opened up in order to retrieve it. The food was ok but definitely not worth what we paid for it. Undercooked chips, poor burgers and presented weirdly. Myself and my daughter ordered sandwiches but the sandwiches were served on top of the chips and salad so we couldn't get to them without eating the sandwich (??) Pic attached. I will visit again when they have had a bit more time to settle in ☺️

Popped in after a long drive to grab some food, had a great £20 platter to sit and eat in the garden too much for me and the daughter, was a great platter with loads on it for the price, wife had fish and chips the three kids had kids meals which were huge, the quality and size of the portions made the prices good. Only poor meal was the kids macaroni cheese, but that maybe more due to our fussy grandkid... It has a large indoor food area with a larger menu that for outside, there was masses of well spaced out garden seats benches to eat at and a covered outdoor area. They had a big bouncy castle blow up side free for the kids to use. The service was quick and the staff quick and efficient.

Visited Horse and Jockey on the evening of 23rd Feb 2019. When booking we asked for a booth for the 3 of us, upon arrival they wanted to sit us at a table for six and not in a booth as they said they needed the booths for groups. The table for six was not acceptable so we were given a round table opposite the booths. During the evening many couples sat in the booths, why couldnt we have our choice and we are a party of 3 but they could and there was 2 of them!!!! Menu choice is poor and prices are high. We started with a 'meze' of 3 items, it was delivered OMG had the chef forgotten to put food in the 'meze'. Waitress placed it on the table and rushed away, we had no plates to put our food on and no staff around to ask for plates, very poor. When 'meze' was collected we mentioned that we didn't have any plates, the waiter said oh you should have been given plates and walked away. The main course arrived, I had gammon, only option was eggs no pineapple, my son had a chicken burger and my husband had the burger from the specials menu (only 2 items on the special menu!!). It was the smallest burgers you have ever seen, a small brioche bun, with a tasteless pork and blackpudding burger and a pot of chips and that was it for £12, really not value for money and not what was expected at all. My husband stated that this burger was smaller and lacked less taste than any burger he has ever had. My sons was exacly the same a small brioch bun and a small chicken burger and a pot of chips for almost £13. We asked for vinegar, salad cream and red sauce. 5 minutes went buy and nothing arrived. Another waitress arrived to ask if everything was ok we said, no, we are waiting for our sauces and vinegar. She went to investigate and then a few minutes later they arrived, minus the vinegar so had to wait even longer, the little food which was served was going cold quickly. No apology given, we were made to feel as if we were an inconvenice to the staff and not customers. My husband and son had a pudding and to be honest this was the best part of the meal. We asked for the bill and went to the bar to pay. We stood for over 10 minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge we were stood there waiting to pay our bill, no one even looked at us or said 'we will be with you shortly' in the end, my husband said ' we want to pay our bill is anyone going to help?' In the end a waiter said ok I will do it, really, what happened to customer service. We explained our issues to him and he looked at us and said 'do you want me to get the manager then?' again, really!, what about an apology and speaking in a manner appropriate to good customer service. We said forget it, everyone is obviously so busy we wouldn't want to disturb anyone and we left. This is the first time we have been able to go out in a long time due to many personal/health issues and we decided to drive 10 miles to go to somewhere we have enjoyed in the past, however, we were so disappointed and it was so upsetting the experience in the restuarant. We shall not visit this place again due to all of the poor service, poor food and not value for money at all, I wish I had gone to a restuarant nearer home or even Pestos where the service, food and quality and value for money is...

We have been previous customer over 2 years ago. Before pandemic even happened. Fantastic/heaven food. Pricey but went time and time again. Any one asks this is the go to place and happy to travel over 30 minutes to enjoy the heaven on the sparks of my taste buds. Massive portions (reason why price was justified with brilliant customer services plenty of choices to go about on the menu that makes you go ooo and your eyes open like the gates have opened)

Come back to present, spontaneous time out as a not been since so long as mentioned. Customer service: One young lad at the bar was going back and forth all night with drinks good work ethic there. However another lad who never spoke to customers. Walked past our table 4 times as we waited for plates to be cleared at the end of our meal. If we wanted dessert I'm not sure we ever would have got it since the other server was found having a chat with a customer at the bar for over half an hour. Was appalling to have one lad doing a lot of the work and others slacking.

Food: Portions sizes has slimed down dramatically. 4 baby miniatures duck rolls for 5 pounds on the deal of 15 pounds with 2 small dishes and 1 side.

2 years ago use to be around 3-3.50, 6 larges ones. £12 for 3 small dishes and comes with a lovely hanging basket.

The brisket taco ( 2x taco ) better of doing this at home with some sauces rather than paying a fiver for. Literally a tortilla cheese and beef brisket nothing else was pathetic.

Fish and chips use to be on a massive wooden platter that my self and friends could not even have anything around the sides as both of our dishes are touching each other. Now on a plate to make it look bigger than it actually is.

Gammon - taste lovely however rather go to havester as looked like a child portion.

The triple cooked chips are now basically chip shop chips very disappointing.

All in all has dropped in quality standards in every way you can think. Would not recommend going if you have been before. Even if you haven't been I would think twice as the prices are struggling to be...

The manager sorted the below issues and even drove out with a new meal, the manager did well to put things right however the kitchen staff still need seriously educating

Ordered a Gluten free takeaway, requested "No Bun " and stipulated that the gluten free must be serpourate to the other food containing gluten. Also I requested this without the cheese as I also have a lactose intolerance.

When I got home after collecting this, The gluten containing food was with the non gluten food (cross contamination can make me very unwell as I have celiac disease) and the burger was in a bun, My partner tried the Bun and tasted like a standard and looked like a standard Bun. (The texture of gluten free bread is very different as it is made with rice flour) I called up to advise and they lacked empathy and after arguing and speaking to a manager they agreed to remake this and deliver this (they do not normally deliver) I empathised that it must be Just a burger and hand cut chips no bun or anything else. They also offered a refund

This came 30 minutes later, when I got back upstairs, they had sent this with bacon and cheese on which I hadn't requested and I have a lactose intolerance (very bad intolerance as cheese will put me in hospital) I called and told them straight away and they said there is nothing they are willing to do as they tried to pit things right and they did it wrong again and told me to just "Not order from them again"

The main issue I had as I explained from the start, I have celiac disease and a lactose intolerance so takeaways are very difficult and there is none locally. My partner is unwell and I have been very unwell for a long time with my diet and supplements etc as my intestines don't work correctly, and now it is 10pm at night, I have nothing I can eat, nothing in and it is very late to go shopping and start cooking . The whole experience...
