Great, old fashioned (in a good way !), comfortable, country pub on the main road from Dronfield through Holmsfield. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Good car park. Outdoor seating. Sells Carling so I know my husband will definitely be back. Walked past many times, but never visited before, although it always seems very popular. Dogs seemed to be welcome. Check opening times before visiting .

Cracking pub and a belting pint of Theakston Best. Sat in the beer garden, were served promptly and pleasantly. A bit of idyllic England on a summer's day. The more often I go the more I love this pub! Traditional cosy feel inside and great outdoor seating areas. They always have good cask beers on.

Normally only visit once a year during a camping trip, but this place really deserves credit for the quality of the real ale. Great service during corona measures too... thanks!

What a super place, I agree with all the previous reviewers. Small, cosy, friendly, good value. Superb Farmer's Belgian Blue ale at £3 a pint, a bucketful of hot soup and a cob for £3. Six of us on a hike in the area knew we had made the right choice of the Holmesfield pubs when we walked in here and saw it full of local old gentlemen. You can always rely on them to know the best pub in town. There's one up near the church with a slick website and oozing superiority. I'm glad we missed out that one and came here. (Nov 2012)

3 years later (Oct 2015) we called in again today, Nothing's changed, same good food and beer, soup is still £3. Same old codgers in the same seats. Here's a picture of the mate's £3 ham cob. The filling is thicker...

This is a traditional drinks only pub, friendly and intimate. We are regulars and for us it's the best pub around for a drink and a chat. The staff are outstandingly helpful and welcoming. There's good outside seating for when/if summer arrives and an attractive "chalet" if it's warm but you need shelter. A recent addition is a pizza van on Tuesdays and a fish and chip van on Thursdays and you can take...

A lovely pub with a friendly homely atmosphere. Their pie and peas is so delicious. Coffee with a slice of Tiffin so yummy. Just can't beat this place. I've been coming for years and never been disappointed. Newspapers to hand. Staff lovely. Just bring your comfy slippers and a book and while away the hours and chat with like minded locals and adventurous walkers and dog lovers alike....
