What a super place, I agree with all the previous reviewers. Small,cosy,friendly,good value. Superb Farmer's Belgian Blue ale at £3 a pint, a bucketful of hot soup and a cob for £3. Six of us on a hike in the area knew we had made the right choice of the Holmesfield pubs when we walked in here and saw it full of local old gentlemen. You can always rely on them to know the best pub in town. There's one up near the church with a slick website and oozing superiority. I'm glad we missed out that one and came here. (Nov 2012)

There's good outside seating for when/if summer arrives and an attractive "chalet" if it's warm but you need shelter.
