Phenomenal. My wife and I are staying at the Redwing Lodge next door whilst in the area for work. We decided to try Cotey's on this quiet Tuesday evening and it's the best food we've had so far. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the restaurant is lovely. It's modern and cozy and importantly very clean. The standards are clearly high here.

The food was amazing. The menu is on a big blackboard and there are plenty of choices but not too many that it's overwhelming. They also have plenty of Veggie, Vegan and even Gluten Free options.

I opted for the Cotey's Quad Burger for £16. It was incredible. More than I expected. Thick, delicious slices of bacon, sausage, egg, a large piece of grilled chicken, a delicious beef patty, lettuce tomato and mayonnaise on a brioche bun that was served with perfectly cooked chips. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The ingredients were all high quality, I'd say it was very good value for what you get. I'm full, I'm happy, I'm satisfied.

Highly recommended to anyone in the area but certainly if you are staying at the Redwing Lodge or any of the other hotels nearby and you're not sure where to go then don't miss out!!

We only have 2 nights until we head home but we are definitely planning on another visit. Hopefully, breakfast before we leave because I just know it's going to be...

In response to your comment there was one small gravy boat for 20 of us and not a few of them. The roast potatoes that were asked for weren't extra, they were for the 3 that never had any on the plates when they came out.

Compared to a party I came here for two years ago, I'm sad to say it was a let down. The Yorkshire puddings were hard and burnt, the so called roast potatoes I had to pick up with my fingers as I couldn't get my fork in them, but the one someone could, as soon as their fork went in it grease flew out of it onto their top. Gravy was non-existent for the amount of people that were there so we had to keep asking for it. If there is a large group a bigger gravy boat or a few of them should have been brought out at once. It's not a place I would book for more than 4 if you want to eat together. By the time the meat and Yorkshire came out the vegetables that were out on the tables beforehand were cold. I wouldn't personally book here myself for a larger booking. It's a shame really as I was looking...

Hidden Gem! The best bit is that it’s Extremely Dog Friendly! Don’t pass this amazing little restaurant on the edge of the A1 on the same complex as Redwings travel lodge without popping in for a cheeky beverage/food/entertainment or atmosphere! You will instantly feel at home with the most charming woman/staff you will meet! Old fashioned ,home cooked and extraordinary service of smiles and love.

I wouldn’t know where to start! While staying in the hotel ‘Redwings’ . Cotey’s is now our favourite place to be . We are just moving to the area and can’t wait to pop in to visit whenever we get a chance.

Stunning and delicious food, Great service, with someone to talk to while having a cuppa of your favourite beverage!! They even have a bar with a great choice of alcohol beverages 😁🤭. The portion sizes are amazing, so so reasonable and more importantly the food is extremely tasty.

Thank you Coteys!! Thank you for putting our faith back in to true hospitality and great food...

If you are looking for a venue to replace Patisserie Valerie (now closed) at the nearby Baldock Services - then this could be it..! Good range of cooked food, (I had a delicious Butterflied Chicken Burger with yummy sweet potato fries).. Salad and other Vegetarian options available. (Even a scrumptious vegan carrot cake..!) Definitely worth stopping here, about 1km before Baldock Services on the A1 (Southbound). Slow down as you approach the Hinxworth turn, as Cotey's is just about 150m after that exit. (For locals, or regular travellers - it's where the old "Little Chef" used to be). ALSO : worth noting - there is currently nowhere at Baldock Services that provides a 'Full English' breakfast , whereas Sonia and her team at Cotey's have a great 'All Day" breakfast option - including a "belly buster" for the really hungry!

I ordered lasagna, salad, garlic bread and she offered chips which were in fact fries as you get in fast food takeaways. The main differences 1 the lasagna was tasty and hot, which is a novelty at most places I've had it. 2 the garlic bread wasn't soggy but crisp edge with soft centre. 3 the fries were hot and crispy, not the soggy cold rubbish you get at most fast food takeaways. 4 the salad was fresh and had a light dressing. All in all well presented and well cooked. I very rarely do reviews as everyone seems to need to be congratulated for doing their job. So for me to do this,it must be worth it.
