Pizza Hut Hitchin — Restaurant in North Hertfordshire

We ordered as a treat for our daughter's birthday. We ordered online and were given an ETA of 40-50 minutes, but after around 35 the tracker app updated to say it had been delivered. We thought maybe it was a glitch, but when it got to an hour we thought we better phone and check.

During the first call they told me it was "with the driver". We waited another 15 minutes and still no food. I called again and was again told it was with the driver. They explained the driver was new and doesn't have a phone, so they couldn't get in touch with him to chase it. Quite how you can work as a delivery driver and not have a phone I have no idea! I asked if they could remake the order and I would collect it, and she said they couldn't as the driver had their only copy of the order - which seems very unlikely.

Another 20 minutes passed without any food so we called again. We were then told they didn't have any record whatsoever of our order! I asked how it was therefore possible in the previous two calls it was "with the driver", and was told an elaborate story about how her eyesight is poor and she has misread another address on our street as ours. The other address supposedly also had an order at the same time - although as this is a bungalow with people in their 80s living there I fail to believe this!

When asked what they were going to do to rectify it they told us to contact head office.

Terrible! I’m not sure what’s happened to this Pizza Hut over the years but it’s the worst it’s ever been. Spent £35 on 2 pizzas for 4 children & 2 adults. Delivered within 45mins but freezing cold and chewy. I called up immediately to explain. They assured they’d replace immediately. An hour later, the children are hungry and needing to go bed (it’s been 2 hours since original order) so the children microwaved the pizza to heat (still chewy though) and got ready for bed. The replacements then arrive and he asks for the pizza back. I explained most of it had been eaten as children were so hungry and have gone to bed. He said okay. Handed over nee pizzas. My partner and I began to eat it when my phone rings. Again and again. (We are now trying to eat). I answer and sure enough it’s Pizza Hut. The lady decided to shout down at the phone that we’d eaten most of the pizza. She wouldn’t let me explain about the children and by now it’s 7:30pm and they’d waited 2 hours since original order. She just wanted to shout down at the phone, not let me speak and hang up! The most unprofessional experience ever! Lost our custom forever and will ensure others boycott Pizza Hut as...

Wife ordered pizza for me. It was rock hard (saved me going to the dentist for tooth extraction.) Just mentioned to female manager with drop dead attitude and I told her I was only informing her of how overcooked the pizza was and that I was not requesting another one.She then gave me a STORY about another customer saying theirs was not cooked enough and this was very strange.
