Haven’t been to the raven for years so today thought be nice to take my son for lunch on his lunch break as he was working near by. We got there at 1.15 walked up to the bar and I asked a young girl (about 19) who was working if I take a seat or wait to be seated but before I could finish my sentence she rudely wagged her finger in my face saying no no no no … to which I replied with a wagging finger ok ok ok .. I stated I hadn’t been for a long time and wasn’t sure hence why I asked and said that it was rude her wagging her finger at me which she apologised… say us down took our drinks straight away they stated they were very busy and food would be half hour delay I said that fine we won’t be staying long as on my sons lunch break we ordered our food by 1.20… 2.20 came and still no food (well over the half hour wait) so I called the girl over and politely asked if it was on way as we had to leave at 2.40 she went off and 5 mins later said order had not gone through she didn’t no why and that our coke & lemonade were on the house! So we left at 2.30 to go grab a sandwich so my son had something before heading back to work! Terrible customer service from start to finish I’m never one to bother with reviews but felt this...

My family have been here a few times and really enjoyed it however this time I’m so disappointed To be fair in just one person I believe the duty manager Yes we were a big party and therefore asked to have pre orders I managed to get most in but a couple were doing it on arrival The ‘duty manager’ before the time slot was on our case asking where the rest of the party were and if the others had ordered yet The table was booked for 1 and this was at 12:45 They ordered before 1pm after being asked around 5 times and generally annoying us -yet didn’t even ask us if we wanted a drink One of the specials was ordered - steak in Guinness and mushroom pie On arrival a chicken pie arrived and the duty manager said ‘oh yeah it changed !’ Sorry what ?!? She said yeah it changed since this morning (When we preordered) Erm but that was ordered at 12:45 when we got here She said yeah it’s now chicken ! - no apology ! Just kept saying but the pie changed Didn’t even think to tell us She was so rude and annoying The rest of the staff were amazing and all other food was great

Highly recommend this pub if the duty manager...

Food took over 2 hours to turn up and then when we asked where it was we were blamed for moving inside after sitting outside for 2 hours waiting for the food and the sun having gone down. Management tried to claim that the "chef had moved on because we weren't sat at the table anymore" even though we had informed the staff that we had moved tables. The food then turned up 15 minutes later and management told us to see them at the end and they would "make it right".

After finishing the mediocre food we went up to the bar to talk to management for them to make it right at which point they offered us £10 off the bill and handed us a receipt for the amount due at which point we informed management that we had already paid the bill, of which we did at time of ordering and this same member of staff was the one that took our order. At that point management tried to blame us for paying the bill before coming to see them before eventually just handing us cash out of the till.

Overall it was a once in a lifetime experience. Not a good one but definitely an...

This is a lovely pub, with a welcoming and very pretty frontage with welcoming hanging baskets. There is plenty of space for parking. There is also a back garden with extra seating on lovely sunny days. There is a long bar with plenty of drinks and varieties to choose from. Lots of seating areas, which you can book in advance for parties etc.. I sat in what felt like a secluded area which didn't need pre booking. There was lots to choose from on the menues. I had a lovely salmon and prawn starter which was like a mini meal. Everything seemed fresh and light. I followed up with a lighter bite menu and chose the 4oz steak, chips peas and tomato and onion rings. I felt that the onion rings were homemade and were lovely and crispy. Steak was cooked exactly as I asked. I also managed a raspberry pavlova, which was a delight. The raspberries were tart and the meringue sweet. A lovely combination. The staff were friendly and busy. Nothing seemed too much trouble for them. I really enjoyed my first visit.

Old pub, decor doesn't seem to have changed in at least 20 years, not sure the menu has changed much either! That said, very nice food once we got it (ended up ordering at the bar as wasn't sure if the waiting staff were meant to be taking orders, but having waited some time to be approached we got fed up and went to order at the bar). Food came out quite quickly despite the place being quite busy (might have been the end of the lunch rush). Very generous sized portions, very good quality meat (my wife was pleasantly surprised with the amount of meat on her lamb chops!) Ordered a 2nd drink but had to chase it up after about 10 mins as it hadn't arrived! Didn't have room for dessert so can't comment on those. Would return, definitely recommend booking a table otherwise you may be disappointed if it is a busy Saturday! Some aspects of the service could have been a bit better but overall a good experience.

Amazing! The day before was Mother's day had such a poor service and meal at another restaurant I took my mum out to make up for it. We hadn't been to The Raven for a few years, its high standards haven't changed, maybe got better. Had gammon steak, and chicken wings n ribs, freshly cooked to perfection. The desserts were so good we started eating them before I realised I haven't taken a photo. The manager and his team are spot on, very welcoming and friendly, already looking forward to our next visit. Can not recommend enough, you will not be disappointed!
