🍤 Chilli & Garlic Tempura Prawns 🍅Tomato & Pesto Bruschetta

🥧 Steak & Kidney Pie with Mashed Potatoes & Greens 🍔 The Big Daddy Burger - Beef Patty, Chicken Burger, Onion Rings, Cheese, Tomato, Lettuce & Gherkins served with Skin On Fries and Salad.

The Ferry Boat had us sailing away happy!

We’ll be honest, this wasn’t our first choice. We’d rang many places beforehand and nowhere we tried was serving food or wasn't even open. This was on a Monday mind, so we do appreciate it's one of the quieter days for restaurants, but there are still people who want to dine out on Mondays so there’s a possible gap in the market there.

Moving on to The Ferry Boat, it’s a lovely venue that felt very welcoming. The staff were very friendly and the service was outstanding. Nothing was too much for them.

Now for what you're really here for and the food was just as good as the service. The starters were both light and freshly prepared and it was clear from the taste. If we’re honest, they weren’t exactly show stoppers, but very nice basic plates to ease us in.

On to the main events, and we were thoroughly impressed when both plates arrived. The pie was divine! Stuffed to the top with succulent chunks of steak in a rich vegetable-filled gravy paired with delicious mash and summer greens, this was a hearty dish full of flavour.

And now the burger. It’s safe to say it’s a good one! As pub burgers go, it’s one of the best we’ve tried. It’s as simple as that. Want to know why? Go and try one out and you’ll see what we mean. It’s just flawless in our opinion.

The same goes for the entire evening at The Ferry Boat. We highly recommend you give them a visit and they've even a car park too so you really have no excuses not to...

WOULDHAVE BEEN ONE STAR IF NOT FOR EXCELENT STAFF! What is it with this pub? Not excepting cash? I had the same experience at Royal William lV on Brayford. I never realised until Sunday when visiting The Ferry Boat pub that they were owned by the same company. Luckily the young woman that served me was more accommodating than the idiot at The Royal William who absolutely refused to take payment and I left leaving the drinks on the bar, incidentally, including the one that I had purchased for the barman. This woman was extremely helpful and payed with her card, allowing me to pay her the cash. The policy of this company, in not accepting cash is nothing short of disgraceful. Bordering on discriminatory. The elderly, who may not use cards, people wanting to get away from card use to manage their money better, and someone who cannot get a card for whatever reason, are all effectively barred! The pathetic excuse offered is 'due to Covid'! What absolute rubbish! This company is taking advantage of the Covid situation to save cash. Well it isn't really working and it is a very short sighted policy. The machine may go wrong, card might have a 'glitch', system could be 'down' etc etc. Cash is always reliable. In ALL circumstances. Its a real shame as the pubs themselves are really nice, but this stingy, money grabbing policy is really not doing the owning company any favours, and the name.... The eversosensible, should be re named the eversoridiculous company. The reason that it is so obviously a financial one. Cash DOES NOT present a risk. If the owners were truly THAT safety conscious, WHY ARENT THE STAFF WEARING MASKS? I...

This is a nice pub but is clearly geared more around dining than it is just for drinks. The decor is nice, with exposed beams and an expansive feel, with lots of large tables throughout suitable for both couples and larger groups. People just drinking were confined to the bar during our visit, but on a quieter night it’d still be accommodating for that.

Although there’s table service for diners it felt as if the staff were a little too stretched to give a proper attentive experience - it was hard to grab their attention as they ran between tables and the sense of wanting to move onto the next task was evident. No fault of the staff though, and they were all friendly and welcoming.

The table, although basic, was laid out well and spacious for a group of four, but best of all was clean. Menus were provided quickly but it was a shame that options not available weren’t mentioned at the time of ordering, instead only being conveyed back once the kitchen had received the order. Food itself was took a little too long to be served and we were close to chasing, but it was presented well and tasty. Portion sizes weren’t the largest making it a little expensive for the area but the quality of the food needed no complaints.

For a meal in a different setting then it’s nice, it’ll probably be a great experience at less popular times earlier in the week. While we had a good time, on a Friday night it just didn’t feel like the best value for money given the service and size of the dishes. I would return, but...

Not for me. Car park was full with some selfish and bad parking going so parked elsewhere. Low ceiling felt a little claustrophobic. Very nice interior and character. Drink order never arrived. Had to prompt. Food was lovely. Ordered Sunday Roast. Not biggest portions. Made a joke with one server, fell flat. It all felt a little awkward. Had dessert and was offered bill. Wasn't offered if we wanted anymore drinks. Ordered tea. By the time we barely finished our cups of tea the bill was bought over to us. We hadn't requested it. Paid and different server apologised in respect of problems with coffee machine. Pointed out that we never had or ordered coffee. Just very weird and awkward. On leaving staff member did not say goodbye. It felt like we did something. No idea what. Won't be back. Better places to spend £60 on lunch.

Not a bad little pub, was a scooter event when we went and great load of friendly people had some good chats. Beer expensive but about average for village pubs. Didn't try the food as one of the locals recommended the corner kebab shop. Said it cheaper and more for your money so we did that. Have to take locals advice as they should know. One thing put me off was attitude from a few locals who seemed annoyed the car park was full of scooterists. Well what I could see was for every car and 2 people you got 4 or 5 scooterists and they put more in the bar cash till than they did, enjoyed the lads gathering and enquired about next one so we could go there. Will enjoy that much better than sitting on bar stool. Lol
