Took my elderly father and my partner for Easter Sunday lunch. Was seated promptly even though we were 15 minutes early. Unfortunately the table we were given was next to a window where there were numerous flies buzzing around. My partner opened a small window hoping they would fly out but unfortunately were our unpaying guests throughout dinner. My partner had the roast pork and he was pleased with the meat..however the veg portion given between the 3 of us was pretty meagre. My daddy and I had the fish pie..unfortunately mine was just ok..there was no white fish in it and the salmon were perfectly formed cubes..🤷🏼♀️. However the sauce was tasty and the portions plentiful. My partner and I both had bread and butter pudding which was also just ok as it was spoilt with having peel in it!! My daddy was very pleased with his cheesecake though. All in all a little disappointing as I had been singing this pubs praises to my partner who had never been. Read moreA wonderful Easter Sunday lunch. Although the pub was full to overflowing, the service was quick and friendly and the air was thick with the sound of people enjoying their meals.
My wife and I had roast dinners and the gravy was possibly the best I have ever had. Our son (28 and with an appetite to match) had the fish pie. This was a work of art with beautiful pieces of fish cooked to perfection. My wife prides herself on her fish pie and this one met with her complete seal of approval.

Thank you for a delicious and great value meal, we will...
Read moreWe went for a Christmas meal with friends, which was very good and a reasonably priced. From that we decided to try their ordinary weekday lunch menu. 26th Feb, four of us went for lunch. Ordinarily we have starters and mains. However, based on the the fantastic quality of the first two courses and after a short settling period we had dessert. All of us were really impressed with both the quality and cost, especially the jam and coconut pudding and custard. Oh my word, it was absolutely heavenly. In a way it's a good job we don't live locally but we will definitely visit again. The cask ale was also on superb form. If you are thinking of going somewhere for lunch, this pub is well worth the drive. I doubt you will be...
