Came here after walking round Walsingham Abbey with our little dog and it was such a pleasant surprise!! The cafe is quaint and unique. We were lead upstairs to some tables and chairs and there was a sofa too, and bookshelves along the walls of all different genres. The atmosphere was so homely and welcoming, and everyone was really friendly and cheerful. We loved the china teapots and saucers that our delicious English breakfast tea came with!! My mum had a crumble with homemade custard and said it was amazing - I tried the custard and it had cinnamon and nutmeg in... Absolutely incredible flavour!! I had gluten free teacake and butter and it was such a wonderful surprise to have this option. It tasted lovely. There were also gluten free crumpets on offer and a whole range of different homemade soups. The food was quickly served after ordering, and they also brought some dog treats for our dog which was so sweet! Thank you to the ladies who were cooking and serving the food - they were all incredibly friendly and smiley, and really made our day. Will 100% be back again to try some more of their homemade food. Can't recommend...
Read moreThis is a really cute little tearoom. The staff are lovely and characterful, full of humour and cheerful chat. The room inside is quant, crammed with old teapots, flowers and of course books. Tea and coffee were good, Oat milk supplied OK. But I wish I could say that the food matched the lovely atmosphere but sadly it didn't. It wasn't bad, but the pastry-free quiche was very watery, so it was more like scrambled egg with tomatoes and onions in it. The doorstep sandwiches came with crisps and the cheese scone came with marge not butter. It would be nice if you could see the cakes before buying. They tell you what's available and then bring out your slice so you don't know what you're getting until it's on your plate. The cake we had was a bit disappointing. Please don't be put off going though, it is a lovely place and certainly one of the quirkiest tearooms...
Read moreA very cosy little cafe at the corner of a 16th century building, run by the kindest lady you will ever meet. The bus from Fakenham/ King's Lynn stops right in front, by the old pump. I'd been to the basilica of Our Lady of Walsingham from there. I'd asked for directions at the tea room and walked to the basilica. By the time I got back to the village, the tea room was closed for the afternoon and i had a good hour and a half of waiting before the bus arrived. I hadn't eaten since I left from wembley and had planned to get to Fakenham and have lunch there. The owner, Samantha, noticed me waiting and offered a bottle of water and 2 sausage rolls for which she refused to accept a payment. A very kind act towards a hungry traveler. I will definitely visit this place again, every time I go...
