Wells-Next-the Sea Beach Cafe has certainly expanded over the years to meet the ever growing needs. It has the perfect location with being a short walk through the pine tree woods to this stunning, unspoilt beach. I really prefer out of season now as the cafe is overwhelming during busy periods. Noisy and crowded. In my opinion I think food and beverages are over priced here and over rated. I miss the days of hot tea pots and china cups with a teaspoon instead of paper cups with the tea bags dangling and wooden stirrers....I miss sandwiches made to order and homemade cakes and quiche. Didn't give full stars for service as it's basically self service with drinks. The cafe is dog friendly. Ideal for families and groups of people. Parking available but gets full quickly during busy periods. ( Pay at meter ). Will return to the beach cafe when visiting as it's the only one near the beach ā›±ļø šŸ–ļø

Very nice cafe with huge car park and the best beach in the UK! Even a Joules shop šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø Great range of naughty treats from cakes to savouries. I deduct a star on grounds of car park (although today I cycled) and cafe pricing (my selection in photo Ā£6.70) which is simply on the limit ā˜¹ļø. Great indoor and outdoor seating and cater for our four legged friends too 🐶 Pricing doesn’t get any better - today whilst the people are charming, two coffees, a flapjack and two puppacinos for the dogs, little change from Ā£15! Think liberties are being taken…….deducting another star!! Back again - nice renovation so gained a star!

Popped in on our way to the beach. Was going to get take away coffees, but they allowed dogs inside, so ended sitting in and ordering coffee and sausage subs. The people that work there are really lovely and it was so nice there was a fire. There is also plenty of seating outside, a small Joules shop and some toilets in the close vicinity. Would 100% recommend a visit.

BEACH CAFE??? IT SHOULD BE CALLED THE DODGY CAR PARK CAFE!!!

We were at Holkham Bay beach which was lovely as usual, but we wanted to get a a half decent coffee, so we went to the ā€˜Lookout cafe’ but they only did some horrible brown stewed filter coffee, but they said if you want a proper coffee we have a Beach Cafe at Wells, we thought that sounded lovely.. to have a nice coffee on the beach overlooking the sea, what more could you ask for..

The woman at the Lookout said it was only about 20 minutes walk, so we walked along the beach in the direction she pointed.. It must have taken the best part of an hour and a half, we finally arrived in some dodgy car park, but thought this can't be right.. So we checked on Google Maps where the Beach Cafe was from there, but Google was saying we'd arrived..

In essence the 'Beach cafe' turned out to be a Hut selling the most awful (dodgy car garage bean-to-cup type) coffee from a machine, with dreadful service, overlooking the most hideous car park, with a high level of petrol and diesel fumes and particulate, with literally no view of any beach or sea whatsoever..

Beach Cafe??? it should be called the Dodgy Car Park Cafe!!!

Addendum: in response to their response to my review, the walk was NOT the problem; rather, it was everything else in my review that they chose not to comment on, this is inarguably...

Today we visited the cafe to buy some drinks and a snack with our 3 year old daughter. She begun to have a tantrum and started screaming whilst we were choosing a drink and a member of staff stood directly behind my husband who was trying to sort her out, and made the sign of a cross across her chest to another member of staff who started laughing. Neither staff member realised I had seen. Whilst this may have been a harmless joke, it’s deeply hurtful. That member of staff had no idea about any conditions my child may have, they had no idea about what may be going on in our lives to cause our child to become overwhelmed very easily.

Even without those factors, it’s very normal for a 3 year old to have a tantrum, and it was not terribly helpful or funny for her to have been performing a gesture relating to performing an exorcism behind our backs.

It costs nothing to be kind.

Unhelpful and judgemental staff members aside, the prices of the food are staggering. We got some much fresher looking and cheaper cakes from Arthur Howells when we walked back into town (and the staff there were far more friendly...

To dine in they charge you £0.20 for a cup. It's expensive enough and bad service given you have to drink out of a can.

Edit. After the owners reply, yes I had assumed the cup was plastic. But there is no need for use of exclamation marks when being constructive. Only if you are being combative. I have removed plastic from my original review. But as a DINE IN customer,(as I pointed out in my original review) you should provide whichever eco friendly vessel you have for your customers to drink out of. That's what you call bad service. Charging for a more hygiene friendly option is quite profiteering if you ask me. Your argument is only valid for takeaway customers. We were not takeaway customers, and should not be charged as such. Furthermore you seem to be implying that someone that would make such a mistake to assume that a drink would come in a plastic cup doesn't care about being eco friendly. It's never a good look to go on the attack over very shaky ground.

I believe I asked for a "glass"...
