The Cannon Inn — Restaurant in North Tyneside

We came here for a family meal. This was our first time here. We've passed here so many times over the years and thought we must come to try it out and for whatever reason we haven't but today was the day. Upon entering the pub we were greeted by the wonderful smell of Sunday roast dinner. For me, that's a great first impression. Wandering through, it was like being in a Tardis, it's bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. The staff are friendly and happy to help especially if you have dietary requirements. There's a good menu with gluten free alternatives as well. I would imagine this will be a busy place at weekends so it is probably advisable to book in advance to avoid disappointment. All in all, this is a lovely little village pub with a warm welcome to everyone. We'll definitely return...

Been here a few times and enjoyed it. Came tonight for restaurant week. Table for 6 people booked for 6.30. Asked bar tender what roast of day was and he said gammon so we decided not to have roast of the day. The person taking order said bar tender was new and got it wrong it was chicken so we ordered it. Starters eventually arrived at 8 pm followed by very disappointing main course at 8.45. It was in fact gammon! The vegetables were awful, tasteless, and under cooked. Those who had salmon were very disappointed and most of it was left....

I never normally leave reviews, but felt i had to this time. It seemed really promising from the reviews, but my experience didnt match. The best thing was my lime and soda. My partners beef was as tough as anything, my son was sick from the roasties and the puddings were very tasteless.i had the sticky toffee pudding but there was no sauce, was totally dry, im glad i had the ice cream.
