We have just had the WORST experience we have ever encountered in a restaurant⌠ever!
We attended the Priest House restaurant for the 4th of July event. The menu looked incredible and we were very excited!
Our experience was everything but that⌠strap in folks:
I just want to point out straight away that there was one female member of staff who was kind, understanding and empathetic.
We had an array of starters, which were adequate (chicken wings were sub par)
Onto the mains; this is where the fun starts! We ordered 4x beef brisket and one ribs. Ribs were dry and still had the membrane on which was disappointing.
The REAL let down was the Brisket - to call it brisket, was extremely insulting to Americans and their cuisine on the 4th of July! Please see the image attached with the âbrisketâ. This was clearly (a normal beef joint) Sundays carvery reheated. The meat was dry and brisket is everything but this!
What made this worse, is that we raised this to staff members who then proceeded to argue with us and said âwhat were you expectingâ multiple times. We explained that didnât want it because it wasnât what we ordered.
They gave us new menus and left and no one returned to take our order, we had one member of the party just sat there with ribs waiting for the issue to be resolved.
Mac and cheese served was cheap and gelatinous. It was like dry pasta in cheap cheese sauce. Wasnât great for an extra ÂŁ4.25.
Without trying to take our order after giving us menus, they then proceeded to argue with us and bring over the joint of meat to the table to justify that it was definitely brisket. There was no juice to it; it was bone dry!! I explained that it looked like carvery beef that has been seasoned and overcooked for 20 hours. Not only this, but it felt aggressive and unhygienic to bring the meat out of the kitchen into the restaurant⌠who does that?!
We then approached the bar to say that we just wanted to leave at this point. We would pay for our starters and drinks but nothing else as it had not been eaten.
The general manager, Ben, then proceeded to come over and started to sort out the bill and didnât even look at us! Head down, no eye contact or acknowledgment. I said hello and he looked at me and bluntly said âhiâ. He then proceeded to continue the argument in the middle of the restaurant in front of all of the customers.
I explained that all was needed was to say sorry we werenât happy about it and we could have moved on. He still didnât apologise, the closest we got to was âIâm sorry you feel that wayâ. He rudely continued to argue and interrupt me as I was explaining that what was provided was simply not brisket. He then insisted he brought the meat out again to show us⌠I insisted back that I didnât need to see the joint of beef again. He explained that they didnât have a smoker so what did we expect. I said it wasnât good enough and we wanted our bill and to leave. He tried to insist we pay for the ribs, which were barely eaten because our friend was waiting for the issue to be resolved. The general manager was SO RUDE, he interrupted us, brought out meat to argue with us and did it infront of a whole restaurant! We are blown away at this AWFUL SERVICE.
If you do not have the equipment to cook the menu, then donât offer it!
Will not...

I told them I was pregnant and they served me smoked salmon which you canât have when youâre pregnant due to the risk of infection from the bacteria the fish has.
Was very odd that a wedding was going on and had to walk through all the guests , bride and groom made us feel awkward that everyone was looking at us. We chose a seat that was by the river away from the wedding but was still a strange atmosphere.
Booked the table for half 1 and got there a few mins after; tea was served quickly but waiting about half hour for them to bring the food ( not very good when youâre pregnant either !)
Lovely view of the river but thatâs about it ! Wonât be returning and certainly wont have my...
Read moreWe came for Sunday dinner and had the beef roast. The meat was tender and full of flavour, and the Yorkshire pudding and gravy were both deliciousâalthough a bit more gravy wouldâve been welcome. Unfortunately, the food and plate werenât hot enough when it arrived, which took away from the overall experience.
Service was very slowâit took around 40 minutes for our meals to arrive, with no explanation or apology. While the waiting staff were friendly enough, they didnât seem particularly attentive. No one checked in to see how the food was, cleared the table after weâd finished, or asked if we wanted dessert. Just didn't...
