Babu's Indian Spice — Restaurant in Northern Ireland

We went on a Tuesday evening for a dinner date, they had an offer on of poppadoms, starters mains and side for a set price. The dips with the poppadoms were a great start to the meal. For our starters we had a chicken tikka kebab which was fantastic, it was very generous and very, very tasty. We also had the sheek kebab which was tasty but not so generous in comparison to the chicken tikka. For our mains we the chicken tikka pathia, oh my! The sauce was stunning I would highly recommend it (the portion was a bit small though). We also had the chicken and mushroom biryani (great portion size) and the curry sauce that comes with it, the rice was very nice, the curry was a bit to mild for me I definitely preferred the pathia sauce. We also got pilau rice (very small portion) and a keema nan which was really yum! Over all it was tasty and highly recommended. The staff were a major asset too, they were friendly and knowledgeable, five stars...

Mother's Day suspected food poisoning! Please be aware!

My family got our weekly takeaway treat on Mothering Sunday spent £25 from Babu Indian, my partner placed the food on the plate and the sauce looked like it was jelly on all meals. Rather than thick and runny. However that wasn't enough to put us off as it tasted the same and I should mention that we order the same meals every week. So we continued on but come the early hours of Monday morning myself and my child were violently sick and early afternoon my partner was just as sick. It's day 4 now and even though we are all on the mend we are still not right. The person who wasn't sick in our home was our youngest child as she hadn't eaten any of the food. So please, please, be very careful as my partner and child are only back to work and school now. This has cost us more than the price...

This was our first visit to Babus Indian Spice House located on main street in Gilford Co-Down. Nice outside look to the restaurant but a little small when you go inside, be aware there are stairs to go up to main restaurant. The restaurant is divided into different parts which can feel a little tight in parts. We had a large table in the main room at the back of the restaurant. Service was a little slow, menus to read where very good. The curry I ordered was to be medium hot but turned out slightly sweet which wasn't what I normally like. We ordered some Nan breeds but main oven to make these wasn't working so we had some sweeter versions with coconut inside them. I would like to go back to order again to see if it was just this night and what I ordered...
