First impressions weren't great, outside appearance is rugged.. a bit run down looking. But willing to give it a go as reviews were good. Firstly no evening menus were ready yet apartently.. so waitress told us a few things we could order that weren't on the small laminated lunch sheet we were given for dinner that had a very limited choice. My husband ordered the chicken Maryland(no price) with a side of chips, my wee son whos 7 ordered a cheeseburger n chips, the burger was minature size inside a small bap & about 10 chips in a basket. He's not the biggest eater & we had to give him some food off our plates to help fill him up. No drink included or desert for £5.95. I ordered honey chilli chicken. Drinks were 3 cans served on a tray that was left on our table and not lifted away. The cokes were out of a multi pack not to be sold separately also. Asked for ketchup which was an old heinz bottle with label took off that needed a good clean also. Chips were served in a basket with no plate. When i went to pay total was £35.60. A bit shocked so asked and was told main dishes don't include side order they are extra. So my husbands chicken maryland was £10.95 which didnt include a side. The kids meal wasnt enough & my meal was just about passable. Now for that price you'd expect nice surroundings accompanied by nice food but neither was the case. You are eating in ballybrakes business park.. in what looks like a rundown business unit that looks like it needs alot of attention. No blue roll in toilet for drying hands & floor also needed a good clean. This during a time when everything needs to be cleaned often not good enough. Overall will not be returning and would not recommend. I'd much rather spend my money somewhere more worthy to be...
Read moreCame here for our anniversary dinner as we were on holiday up this way and were disappointed. We walked in to a quite lovely restaurant and from the reviews, were expecting a lovely meal, sadly that is not what we got.
We were greeted by a well mannered server (credit to him this is the only reason this review is getting 3 stars) we were seated, and the menu was quite extensive and had a lot of items that sounded great.
Ordered a caramel latte and a cappuccino, both of which were lovely. I myself ordered the steak sandwich (asked for medium rare) and my partner ordered the salt and chilli chicken loaded fries.
Waited around 15ish minutes for it to arrive and when it did, my sandwich was cooked to well done. Asked the server if he could change it and he was very apologetic and changed it for me.
Overall the food was below par. Steak sandwich when it came out again was cooked medium rare, however it was dry as a bone, the garlic skinny fries were cooked well and were nice. The pepper sauce was horrific. The only way I could describe the taste was in between bisto and burnt. My partners salt and chilli chicken was absolutely covered in salt and was a struggle to eat.
I would probably not come back to this place if I was back up this way. The server was a credit to the restaurant however. I never got his name however deserves a pay raise. If I were to return I’d appreciate better steak and definitely a change in the pepper sauce, after a while it had the same consistency as play...
Read moreSuper nice spot for lunch or dinner. Be aware it is cash only, which we didn’t realize when we arrived. We opted to use their bank transfer app, which was way harder than expected. In hindsight we should have just gone to the ATM that was five minutes away, but we were hungry enough we wanted to sit down and order. For the food, we got a BBQ smash burger with garlic cubes and chicken strips with garlic mayo and sour cream and onion cubes. We also got an Oreo milkshake, which was the only real disappointment of the meal. We asked before ordering if it it was more of an Oreo cream or Oreo cookie type of milkshake (which may be an American distinction) and were told it has a ton of Oreos in it. Turns out it actually doesn’t have any Oreos in it 😂 I could taste immediately they weren’t Oreos, then one of the cookies coming out on our dessert confirmed it. Personally I didn’t like the cookie, which was called a Neo, but if you do you might like the shake. It basically tasted like a thin and creamy neo. Aside from that, the chicken was super crispy, the burger was delicious, and the cubes were new to us and very good. The service was great, everyone was very nice and patient when we struggled with the money transfer app. The atmosphere was fun and relaxed, though pretty empty when we ate (probably because it was a...
