Roys Café — Restaurant in Norwich

Visited here a couple of times over last few months and both times I have been very impressed with the service and drinks. The first time I was served by a lovely man who was friendly. He really took the time and care whilst making my black forest hot chocolate and it tasted really good, was so nice to get a drink where you could actually taste the syrup for once! The second time I was served by a girl called Molly and again she was very friendly, she made more conversation with me than what would be considered standard and she made sure to check how everything was. I also had another lady called Jo who came over to check how everything was and to see if she could get me anything else. Staff are very attentive. I have had the BLT sandwich both times and its very reasonably priced at just £4! there is a great choice of sandwiches and paninis etc which are far cheaper than most cafes. They also have a really extensive variety of syrups for coffees/hot...

Firstly a mat blocking the door left me unable to open it without squeezing my leg in kick it away whilst staff did not bother to sort it out

Secondly, we went to the counter to order, was greeted by a shaking head and a face that screamed “can you not see I’m not ready despite being past the opening time, and you don’t deserve a greeting because I’m slacking at my job” then by actually being told “you may as well sit down for a few minutes, because I’m not even ready” as she fumbled coins into the register making it feel like it was our fault we couldn’t order and that we were the problem.

Gone a bit downhill since me and my lady friend first started coming here. The breakfasts were very nicely priced and we often got tea sweats with the amount of tea they gave us. However lately the cups have been dirty; the cream tea comes with no cream and there is no longer much tea in the teapot. Bit disappointed. We will still come here however since they do good hot chocolate. On the Roy’s front the jam puffs have also gone down in quality. What a shame! Searched for over a year for those Jammy beauties.
