My boyfriend's great great great great grandfather fell out with the owner of this pub. His children, grandchildren and subsequent generations were all barred from entering the premesis. The great granddaughter Mary then moved away to Northern Ireland and subsequent generations have lived in parts of Northern Ireland and Wales. Today, my boyfriend (who was the great great great great grandson of the original offending patron) returned with Mary (the great granddaughter) and WAS REFUSED SERVICE! Sure, they tried to dress it up as "we don't serve food between 3pm and 6pm" but we weren't fooled. You have to forgive and forget some day guys!!

Brilliant pub! We had been hunting for a pub for dinner whilst on holiday.. none of the pubs in Perranporth seemed to be quite right. Stumbled upon this pub, and was swayed by the specials! Lots of fish dishes. We sat outside as it was sunny too. It’s quite a humble pub, the inside was very traditional. Could not fault the food at all. We had monkfish and salmon, and sticky toffee (the best I’ve had in years). Would come back!! Only downside was the lack of pints on tap.. I would have died for a rattler on tap!

Amazing food and super friendly staff who love dogs. A proper quaint little pub a little out of the way. The pies are real old fashioned great pies and you get so much liver with the liver and onions, it's wonderful! Definitely a stop by even if you have to go a little out the way to get here. The desserts are incredible, the brownie especially. Large portions for your money so make sure you leave room! (It's also a pokestop so that's always a bonus)

Had lunch there yesterday . We both had " home made pies" one steak and ale one mushroom and chicken with duck fat chips . Definitely not homemade. !! Pastry was two frozen puff pastry lids with a bit of filling in and normal frozen chips served with a tonne of peas. Very tasteless. Atmosphere was dreadful young lad and girl just stood there either staring or looking bored stiff no conversation and we were the only people in. The whole place absolutely stank of wood smoke that made me sneeze and eyes water. We so regret not turning around and leaving straightaway. My husband asked how long they had been there and a bored looking youth said since november! Well all I can say is much improvement needed or you'll be gone by september.we are both local to st.ives and would love to reccomend this pub but sorry I would say avoid at all costs. I feel like ive been...

The food was delicious and really hit the spot, I had the blue cheese chicken with potatoes and seasonal vegetables. There was just the right amount of sauce for the meal with lovely complimentary tastes. I also had the honeycomb cheesecake and was surprised by the size of the portion. I always find that normally dessert portions tend to be small but this was the opposite. It tasted good with a lovely base as well.

There was a friendly atmosphere to the inn with the bar lady/waitress doing a great job getting around to everyone. The food came out in a good amount of time meaning that the party I was with could chat a bit first. We didn’t feel rushed at all either when eating which was great. Highly recommend although I’d also say that you’re best to book in advance to save...

Very very poor, we prebooked for Sunday roast, three meats on offer, out of a simple order four meals where wrong and when this was stated to the waitress nothing was done about this at all she just looked at us, the plate was over half full with mix veg out of the freezer, the two sliced carrots and one parsnip were uncooked. All I can say is stay away as after at bit of local research, it was found that the pub had only just regained its food hygiene certificate after gaining zero in the last inspection. If this was known we would have stayed well away, apparently 4 years ago the pub was amazing when it was run by a local family and was thriving. But I can safely say I don't see this lasting long now as it has changed hands over eight...
