The lobster pot

When entering the warm and cosy feeling cafe we was greeted with smiles and offered different tables around the restaurant as we was a group of 4 adults and 2 kids. The lovely waitress seated us and we was given ample time to read the menus.

We was then greeted by another waitress who took our orders with a smile and NO NOTEPAD. She had a tremendous memory for our order. We ordered 2x Kids fun lunch bag £9.50 each. It Ham/cheese/Tuna or Jam sandwich, crisps, fruit, yogurt, juice ( apple or orange), crayons and activity sheet.

I ordered the Fresh crab sandwich with seeded batch bread and crisps £12.50. The crab was lovely and fresh and went well with the seeded bread was a perfect lunch option well worth the money and was served with a lovely little garnish 9/10. I also ordered the Whole tail scampi served with chips and peas £15.95. The scampi was absolutely delicious and well battered. The chips was a disappointment and there was only a few good chips and the rest was scraps and clumped together this was a shame. The peas was cooked well and complemented the dish 7/10.

Pudding I ordered the stick toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream £6.50. This pudding was absolute heaven the portion was a very good dive and the ice cream was like Mr Whippy it was smooth and creamy. An easy 10/10.

I ordered the Draught Cider 4.5 ABV 1/2 pint £2.95 and Pint £5.75. This cider had a crisp apple taste but was a little on the dry side of ciders. It would be nice to know the brand of cider and offer...

Good service and even better food.

We stopped halfway along our walk around Portland, for lunch, and very much enjoyed our meal. We had a dog with us which was accommodated well - we were told they always wait for a table on the outside for dogs, which we felt was reasonable and we would have preferred that anyway, thinking that our dog wouldn't have settled if she'd been in the centre of the restaurant. We ordered the chicken burger, the haddock and chips, the salmon fillet, and the halloumi burger. We chose sides of either chips and salad. The chips were cooked to perfection, portion sizes were generous. The battered haddock particularly so - it came with 2 pieces of fish, and the chicken burger with 2 pieces of fried chicken. All the food was excellent.

For dessert, we had chocolate fudge cake, ice cream sundae, sticky toffee pudding, toffee and honeycomb cheesecake (a special), and Dorset apple cake, all of which were delicious.

Overall highly recommended, with excellent food and service, with 3/5 given for atmosphere due to the slightly chilly air conditioning and the loud environment due to lots of hard surfaces. The floor was also quite...

We came here for my wife's birthday 09/06/2022, the pricing you would think your in London and ad a 1-2 Michelin restaurant. We have Fish and chips the fish fillet was a ½ fillet and the chips were small priced at £14.95. the wife had chicken burger and chips priced at £12.95. Drinks was a pot of tea for 2 £2.95 per person a small glass of wine £5.75 and small coke £2.15. the dessert was chocolate fudge cake (again very small portion) asked if we wanted ice cream with this which we did when the bill came it was £3.95 for the cake £3.95 an ice cream £2.45 So total bill for 2 People came to £53.10 These price's make you think about. returning especially as there is not enough room to get a average size wheelchair down to were the toilets arbor to seating further into the room. I was knocked serval times with customers walking past to go to the gift store which is where you have to pay. This is a shame as we would go here at least 2-3 times a year for the...

Excellent cafe/restaurant at Portland Bill lighthouse (pictured). Not sure if it is a family enterprise run in conjunction with the souvenir/gift shop but all the staff were friendly and accommodating. Thoroughly professional and well run operation which also included Covid test on arrival. Stunning sea views over Channel and all tables separated by celluloid screens. Food was reasonably priced and of a high standard and quality, my good lady had a tuna sandwich which was generously packed/filled with tuna and I partook of a sausage baguette with an obligatory portion of shared chips. The food quickly appeared and served equally promptly by a courteous and polite waiter. The aforementioned souvenir/gift shop had plenty of good quality products to suit all pockets and tastes at prices that were hard to beat when compared with other similar tourist 'attractions'. All worth a moment of anybody's time, grateful thanks and plaudits all round to a well run business !!

What an amazing location. It’s worth stopping in here for the views alone! The best tables are those up against the windows - you’re right by the sea and can see the waves crashing away in Winter. We were allowed to pick our own table which was nice. The staff were really friendly and attentive and the service was speedy. We ordered 2 cream teas for £7.50 each. The tea was loose leaf and came with a strainer and a spare pot of hot water and sugar cubes which was really quaint. The scones were a bit unusual and had a slightly cakier texture than taller scones I’ve had before (and I detected a hint of citrus in there - maybe orange/lemon peel?) - but clearly homemade and still very enjoyable. There’s also a very cute gift shop here if you fancy a quick look for a souvenir. Great cozy rest stop if you’ve been out walking along the coast in the bracing sea air!
