We visited The Final Whistle Cafe today for the first time, unfortunately our experience left a lot to be desired.
I appreciate it hasn't been open long but there's room for improvement and I'm sure in time, it'll be great. We ordered 3 breakfasts at £8.95 each, the breakfasts all came off a warming station, as this was being used, it meant the food wasn't substandard. The only thing that was cooked fresh were the eggs & toast. Unfortunately the rest was dry and of poor quality. The bacon was far too dry and overdone, very hard to even eat. The potions were very small & at £8.95 each, I thought we'd get a little more than what we did and the beans were literally a mouthful on the plate. This was served with chopped tomatoes which tasted of vinegar? and the mushrooms had a very oily taste. We did order hot drinks initially, but they'd forgotten then remembered after we was half way through our breakfast then asked what we wanted again, so we just opted for cold drinks from the fridge, only one of us had a hot drink which was ok. The toast was really nice, but only one slice of it each. The location is beautiful, the cafe itself is lovely and I do feel the 2 owners are very pleasant but the food isn't great from our experience which is a real shame & I don't think we'd return unfortunately or we might in time to give it another go & hopefully...
Read moreI'm sorry to write this but , not a pleasant lunch , it wasn't even lunch time yet and everything we asked for they didn't have, the young girl serving seemed very sweet but timid , i couldn't really hear anything she said , i asked for the only thing they seemed to have , beef salad with salad cream on granary bread , i got dry beef with dry salad on white , the side salad was pitiful and dry ,not a tomato or bit of cucumber in sight , no dressing, the young man seemed sullen and naffed off , the music outside was so loud we had to talk loudly, 2 of our friends ordered tea with normal milk , the lad put soya milk in and she had to say 3 times she didn't want that , so he huffed a little and chucked the whole hot cup of tea into the normal bin , non of the staff smiled or looked happy apart from the young lady with long hair ,we felt like apologising simply for being there , and i felt rushed into choosing something, but the 2 young ladies were lovely, it's a shame for the rest of it as it's a lovely place, but staff really need to learn some decent customer service, a friendly smile cost nothing.and seriously, turn the music down , i feel sorry for people who live near by , it's not a pub , people want to chat , not shout as...
Read moreWow....what a hidden jem!!! If you're ever near the uclan sports arena or on the guild wheel or even in the Preston area, make time in your day to call in. This amazing place should be prescribed on the NHS. I was a tad miserable before I entered due to a bad day but as soon as I entered I was welcomed by the lovely owner with the warmest and heartfelt "hello, how are you?". Guess what guys, she actually meant it!! I had the best conversation with her and the fantastic staff and was made to feel like I'd walked into my family home. Atmosphere, food, the staff, in fact everything about this establishment is wonderful and before you ask, no, I don't have shares in this place. It was the first time I'd ever been in since it reopened and I will certainly be going back. Who needs a five star restaurant when there are wonderful little jems like this in Lancashire. Keep it up to all of the hard working ladies and apparently there is a husband in the mix too who makes the best spaghetti Bolognese you will...
