We dropped in out of the blue for a bite to eat on a Saturday afternoon, we had not booked but were offered a table. The guy behind the bar was welcoming and amiable. Once seated with menus the wide range of excellent beers available made it difficult for me to choose, so no doubt will have to return just to try out the rest! Service wasn't rushed, and everyone we came in to contact with was very pleasant and relaxed. The surroundings are just what you expect from an establishment of this age and quality. Food was tasty and enjoyable. Not what I would call a summer menu though. We sat outside after dining to take in the atmosphere and views, absolutely stunning location and relaxed vibe on the patio, with the exception of one noisy lady who obviously wanted everyone in earshot to know what she had been up to, we managed to sneak round the corner and grab some peace and better views. We will be back, food is a bit pricey I would say, and drinks too, but they say you only get what you pay for. Budvar is served in a chilled glass out of the cabinet, just how it should be on a warm summer afternoon! Excellent choice...
Read moreVisited here for the first time today for a birthday lunch. A beautiful place. Very busy too for a week day. We booked in advance and pleased that we had. On arrival, we were welcomed by friendly bar staff and shown straight to our table, offered a variety of menu's and drinks order was taken. Table service was efficient by tentative staff. We didn't wait long for our food to be served. Freshly made, cooked to perfection and extremely tasty, I could not fault my dish. Desserts were equally delicious and when ordering a smaller portion, this was accompanied with a hot drink of our choice. The pub itself has a very relaxing and warm atmosphere. The decor is traditional with open log fire burning in the center. Dogs are welcome and there is also accommodation for overnight stays. Outside is a large car parking facility with tended gardens and despite being in the open countryside, Haighton Manor is within a short driving distance to Preston city centre and motorway networks M6/M55. I would most certainly recommend this pub & although meals were perhaps a little on the pricey side, the food was worth...
Read moreWe had a pleasant meal here but a few service issues. The menu for Saturday on the internet, which did say changed before midday each day was not the one we were given. It was dated Saturday but was the one that appeared on Friday. Thankfully it was very similar but missing the steak bacon and venison pie. Presumably the chef wasn't wondering why no one ordered one. Initially service for drinks orders was quick although I would have liked to have seen a drinks menu. The main courses took a while and roasted buttered veg were mashed carrots and spinach, not roasted vegetables. The dauphinoise were lacking cream and garlic, more like Lyonnais. We ordered 3 deserts but only 2 came out. We waited ages and had to ask where the other one was and were told they couldn't find our server. The desert minus garnish was unceremoniously plonked on the table after a good 10 minutes delay with a sorry you were missed. The premises are bright and warm with a relaxed atmosphere but the lack of training and attention to detail was disappointing. I would still say give it a try, it could have been an...
