Very, very poor, meal (First post few months ago) Been going many years off and on. Will wait till thing's improve till we go again. Staff good. Paid Bramely a visit for tea last night , wanted to see if food had improved, did a starter soup and main gammon, wife steak, improved on last time meals all ok. Staff were very good. Up to a four star now from one previously. Only comment had a receipt and noticed vat on beer. Told draught ales had vat, cask not. So a £4.55 pint had 20% vat added on top. First time I've seen that.
18/01/23 Thing's really improved, lovely, quality two course lunch and beautiful ales , definitely going back. Will book to get a table we like, although luckily not to busy when we went and staff brilliant.
March Very disappointed, meal lovely, service staff excellent, but that's where it stops. The Bramely cottage now seems inundated with dogs, dogs not a problem if they have a designated area to go. Unfortunately since our last visit they seem to be allowed anywhere in the resteraunt. One dog sat behind us on the floor then barked when owner went to bar to get another drink. Another owner allowed the dog to sit on a cushion on the sofa and then walk all over the table. Barked fairly continuously. This we reported to the bar staff. A new family arrived and sat at the table as previous occupants left. A lady then sat at another table lifted dog onto chair by her,the dog then put it's paws on table, when food arrived nothing was said and she fed dog from her plate with scraps. Sorry hygiene at the Bramely is definitely questionable. A complaint has been forwarded .
November Visited tonight for evening meal, mixed grill spot on selection of guest ales well kept, one meal very poor sirloin mostly fat. Had to revisit bill as our tab had drinks from another table? Would visit again. But expect better.
17/01/25 Just been tonight to Bramley cottage, Excellent, excellent, excellent! Food management and service and one of the best pints of plumb porter ever, it's how you put it in the glass! It's not very often a person serving stands out but Ember inns should be aware you have a gold star employee, professional, organised and compassionate about his job. Cameron 11/10. Yes standards have improved dra matically. Going again. 23/01/25 Perfect, perfect, perfect. Gammon cracking, everything was hot and spot on. The steak and ale pie I was told was yummy. This is definitely the place to go for a respected cask ale and good quality "hot" food. We used to go there monthly a while back, now weekly. Brilliant management.
28/05/25 Seen the special £20.90,two steaks. Thought to go up for a date tea. Asked barman/manager what steaks available? Sirloin or rump reply. Ordered sirloin. Meals we're ok,Dark star ale excellent. Given bill then all turned very poor, I was then told sirloin steak was extra (not told previously),shown a board by loo,two rump steak offer,no statement of increased prices for sirloin. Good night ruined, yes I'd go back but only when you give correct pricing. Also when I get trousers cleaned where...

Just been to the Bramley cottage for my mother in law's birthday.
The food today was amazing.. beautiful light batter on the quality pieces of haddock...
The mixed grill was perfectly cooked.
My chicken and Portobello mushroom pie was sooo tasty, rich sauce and crispy pastry 😋😋
Aidan was fantastic throughout, a great choice for front of house hospitality.. With a Cheerful friendly demeanor and a great approach for service to his customers, Aidan enhanced the whole meal experience for us... Thank you
My final shout out goes to Kam... He brought our the food and drinks cleared the tables and made sure all the tables were kept clear and cleaned.. another great ambassador working hard to ensure the reputation of the Ember inn's brand.
Well done guys....
Very pleased 😎

We have just been to the Bramley Cottage for Sunday dinner.
We spotted it on the way to dalish bakes to sort out our wedding cake and called in on the way back.
The servers Carly and Ella were very welcoming and gave a fantastic service Everywhere was very clean and well presented.
The roaring open fire made the whole dining area feel very cosy.
Now to the food... Exceptional !!
My dinner was cooked to perfection, the meats were tender, flavoursome and parsnips were some of the best I've tasted.... It came out of the kitchen in a very short time considering it was a Sunday.
The cutlery (photo) was spotless and bright... The little condiments platter was a really good touch.
These little extra touches show the level of detail the staff go to in order to give the customers an all round pleasing experience.
This venue is 22 miles from my home but after this superb eating experience we will be returning here for my soon to be mother in laws birthday in April. (Well worth the drive out)
This Ember inn's is a real credit to the management and staff that have clearly worked so hard to make a really pleasurable place to eat.
I would...
Read moreI have visited the Bramley cottage twice In the last two weeks, we were looking forward to being able to eat out locally having had to follow strict Covid lockdown for the last 4 months. We visited the day after it’s reopening it was very quiet we were shown to our table and given information about Covid measures in place we then ordered our food, as soon as our food arrived a lady who appeared to be management came and sat at next table with her lunch she then made a phone call to a friend, put on loud speaker and proceeded to chat, laugh and joke at top of her voice which I felt was quite rude. We visited again yesterday we were shown to our table and ordered our food, the same who appeared to be supervisor/manager had a gentleman approach bar with a dressing on his head, he asked if they had a fresh dressing in there first aid box, she proceeded check she then without using any gloves put the new dressing on his head, disposed of wrapping and went straight to the till and served more customers, I was so shocked and totally put off eating my my meal, my husband would not let me talk about it as it was making him feel sick. I felt it only right to mention it to the gentleman who had come over to check everything was ok with our food, he said he would speak to her about this incident. Was shocked to see him whisper a few words, obviously mentioning we had complained, she then walked past our table several times, she did not approach us to apologise for what I would like to think was not usual practice, thank us for bringing it to her attention or offer any explanation about what had just happened. This review is about experiences we had not about quality of the food, I would like to add the food was lovely on...
