If I could of gave this pub a zero star I would have.
I booked a table 4 weeks prior to turning up on Sunday 17th December. As my sister is away at Christmas with my young nephew and niece we was going to use this day as our Christmas get together and exchange presents and have a Sunday roast.
40 minutes prior to turning up we was contacted by the manager stating they are running low on Sunday roasts and beef was not available. It was a shame as a few of the family members didn't eat chicken or nut roasts. It was also too late to book anywhere else being a week before Christmas.
We asked the manager via telephone can we use the ordinary menu and order from that he stated that would be fine. Therefore we looked online and found plenty of choices of food so we stuck to our plan.
Upon arriving we was seated down and given a sunday menu with a very limited food choice complete different to the menu online and what the manager told us.
We brought this to the managers attention and asked him why he didn't state to us its a set menu and it differs from the online menu. He shrugged it off and his face spoke a thousand words. He clearly didn't care about our custom and come across very unapproachable and rude.
We then decided to order from the very limited menu. Three of the guests ordered burgers and to my horror the waitress informed us that they can only cater for two of our party as they have run out of burgers.
I then tried to order pie of the day for me and my wife and was informed they have also run out of this. This literally left just fish and chips on the menu I didn't dare to ask if that was available.
We then left the pub as they clearly have a servere issue going on with stock of food. I have never been to such a poorly run establishment to run out of food 1 week before Christmas is beyond a joke. To add fuel to the fire the Manager was being very unapproachable and unsympathetic towards us.
We tried to explain to the manager our concern and he clearly had a chip on his shoulder and having a bad day. I really can't believe this establishment was as busy as it was if this is the way they treat clients. This could have been dealt with very differently by the manager just a simple apology would of gone a long way.
Terrible terrible experience I would never return nor...
Read moreNew management, poor food. So my friend highly recommended this place for good cocktail menu and great food as she's eaten here many times. Oh dear, we were told that there's a new menu and new management by young staff members barely out their high school, bless them. But as a foodie I expected a decent meal. Nope. So when I asked for chicken Thai curry was told they don't have it, asked for veggie Thai curry and again nope. My friend asked about their pies cos apparently its really good, nope again they said that they have limited food due to new management and menu. Okay so I asked for veggie tagine and if they could add some spice like smoked paprika. What I got was what looked like ratatouille not tagine! My friend's beautiful fish turned up full of bones and excuses were made that on their menu it did mention bones may be found. Nope not on this new menu. My friend only took two bites and both of those bites she found bones! We asked for a cocktail menu, nope no cocktail menu. The young waiters were clueless. Then there was a massive caracus when one of the drunk patrons were shouting obscenities... The waiter apologised for the unruly noise in the bar and we asked for the fish to be removed from the menu. Again no apologies from staff or even manager. I can say my first impression wasn't great.. My friend who was a regular visitor was so embarrassed as she highly recommended this place for its quality of food and high standards. Looks on this pictures are deceiving! Bread is nice and mushrooms tho! I didn't finish my meal because the chef thinks it's funny to put 3 chillies into my "tagine" when I say I like spice doesn't mean to put 3 blooming uncooked chillies into a meal for one person.. That is not good... Sorry guys but you lost me here and my...
Read moreWe had a girls lunch on Sunday. Most of us had Roast and 2 had the vegetarian nut roast. We were looking forward to lovely fluffy Yorkshire puddings as seen on others' plates but the veg roasts came out with hard brown balls!! These were apparently vegan gluten free!! As was the cauliflower cheese side dish. We asked to have them exchanged as we only don't eat meat and love all the traditional roast accompaniments, and there was no mention of having Vegan sides served as standard with the nut roast on the menu (although clearly great for vegan diners), and they had established there were no dietary need/allergies when taking the order. They apologised and brought huge fluffy Yorkshires immediately. The roasts were all tasty, generous and great veg selection. Could have been hotter. (Vegan/gluten free could be offered on menu as option, just as a suggestion). But lunch was delicious and we loved the mini pudding with coffee/tea option. It was great to satisfy our sweet craving without being too full. Those who had a full sized dessert were treated to very generous portions and all were delighted. ( Atmosphere was somewhat marred by screaming babies, but I guess that's a hazard on Sundays).
We had a generous time allotted at the table, and the waitress secured us a lovely snug area where we could have more coffee and continue our chatting after we left the table. Will definitely go back. Will definitely have the nut roast again (minus vegan sides!!). And if food a bit hotter will definitely get...
