We planned our visit to have lunch and drinks in the garden on one of the summers loveliest days. Not too hot but needing shade and we found that in the garden here. A large garden with numerous tables both grass and paved areas. All very clean and tidy and actually only one wasp all the time we were there! The food was fabulous. Well it would be at the discounted prices from the evening menu!! Fantastic chicken salad, really good burgers and my pick the fish and chips! The like of which I have not had for a long time. Bravo the Woodman chef. She or He did a great job Wash down with real ales from Harvey's at ÂŁ4.45 & Shere Drop at ÂŁ4.50 We left much satisfied with the compliments to the staff at the Woodman. I believe it's Dave, who manages the pub and he does a very good job indeed. There are lots of photos in the reviews, but one that took our fancy was the dog menu. Visiting woofers get treated well here if their owners are so obliged.

This is our second visit, and again, we were not disappointed with our experience. The food is wonderful and the staff are friendly and attentive. We would recommend the bread and butter pudding fingers with vanilla custard, for someone like me, who is more of a savoury person and has never liked custardi n the past,, these have changed my whole perception. This is a very cosy pub, who welcomes children but also dogs, which is highly unusual. Definitely will not be our last visit. Jack behind the bar is also very helpful and friendly. All in all, it's a lovely little gem.

I attended The Woodman today, and it was brilliant. The staff were very welcoming and on the ball. Especially the beautiful bubbly blonde lady with the glasses serving on the Bar.Nothing was too much trouble for her. For starters I had the chicken goujons with BBQ sauce which was lovely, and my mother had the prawn cocktail which was also very nice.Staff member recommended the Beef Pie,which we both had and it was Immense.I cannot fault this place,It's Ace.We will definitely be returning for their Trio Roast in the near future.

Where do I start, have never been to an establishment that disgusted me so much. We ordered our food which was all swell, however when the “starters” came out there was only one. The waitress basically threw it onto the table and walked off in such a mood not saying a word, then we sat there waiting for my soup to come. Getting concerned after 5 minutes I tried to find the very “friendly” waitress but she was no where to be found, so I asked another member of staff who went and found that it had been ordered as a main course even though we had told them it was a starter. So waiting a further 5 minutes for my soup to arrive the very unhappy waitress came again and threw mine down, and when I looked I was rather disappointed to find that the bread was burnt and looked as though half had been eaten already! Before I even had the chance to start my soup the very friendly waitress came over with the mains, before I could tell her we wanted to finish our starters she was gone again. Which left us without cutlery, no idea how she expected us to eat our food. So then had to search for it myself and then found another member of staff to get sauces, who as soon as she looked at the BBQ chicken noticed the complete lack of bbq sauce on it, so ran it right back into the kitchen. So now we where sat with our starters and mains, where I didn’t think I could get much more disappointed but hence forth I did. The scampi itself was mediocre, but the chips were cold and I’m not surprised very much undercooked. Furthermore the peas where in the same state, how difficult is it to cook peas honestly. So hard as if they where fresh from the bag, this may be how some people enjoy their peas but I can definitely tell you I don’t. Your probably questioning why I did not complain about this disgusting service to a member of staff, well my food was never checked so unsurprisingly I left most of it. When we went to leave we couldn’t find any staff to talk to about how disappointed we where, I would recommend going to the dumpster behind a Chinese you would definitely be...

On 4th July, we decided to have lunch at Woodman due to good opinions on Google, menu options, and it looked really great. We weren't disappointed at first. We found a nice table in the garden, staff were welcoming and smiley, but no one attended our table. I found some menus on the waiter station, we chose what we wanted, and I went to order. At the bar, I discovered that the entire place was operated by two floor staff and a lady in the kitchen. Apparently, a manager was on duty, but she was nowhere to be found. Guests were impatiently queuing, and the team was clearly overwhelmed with the amount of work. Eventually, I placed an order, but mistakes were made, as the layout of the menu versus layout in their system does not correspond. I brought my drinks to the table, and we waited good 25-30 mins for the first dishes to arrive. Due to an error mentioned earlier, my chicken didn't arrive, and I had to wait another 20-25 mins before I received it.

The food was average at best. Salad dish had virtually no dressing, just some veggie thrown in a ball. The chicken with chorizo didn't taste great either, and was accompanied only by a few leaves of salad and yesterday's potatoes. The pasta with fish was tasty, but the best thing on the table were chips with cheese (which with whole honesty were just amazing).

After we finished the meal, we saw the same two team members literally running like headless chickens (still no manager around), trying to clear and reset tables whilst trying to run service. As kind, professional, and polite they were, they obviously needed more help, more training, and support. Even an order of espresso took a long while, as one of the team members didn't know how to operate the coffee machine and at the end we received americano instead, which obviously wasn't what we ordered.

We really like the place. We would only recommend a greater focus on food quality, taste, and presentation, as well as training and support of an undoubtedly brilliant team you...
