Netherfield Cafe, Shop + Post Office — Restaurant in Rother

I have no Idea what the previous reviewer (Olly) is talking about ... the staff or should I say 'stuff' as he did, are never rude, I have been there when their delivery has been a bit late and they gave me something extra free in place of the thing they didn't have - or did you forget to mention that??

The fact that it is a dog friendly cafe is a real plus when you live in the countryside and I often pop in for a cuppa or a bite to eat after my walk. however if there is ever anyone who doesn't like dogs the owners always move the dogs away.

Perhaps Olly is someone more used to McDonalds than a good home cooked breakfast - it's no loss to the cafe if they never come back.

Personally I would go out of my way to find such a lovely little cafe/shop and it would be a shame to miss this one if you are...

A traditional village store is a rarity nowadays but there is one at Netherfield Village. It is run by a mother and daughter team and has become invaluable to the local community during the covid19 crisis. It is a shop, also a Post Office and even a cafe. If they have not got what you want in stock then they will do their level best to get it for you. You can phone in your order and arrange to collect it already boxed up and If you cannot get to the shop they will deliver it to your door, at no extra charge. It was many years before i have found a truly fantastic village store. Yes they are a bit more expensive than your supermarket but look at the financial and environmental savings by supporting your local shop. Not just a Post Office they supply freshly baked bread, pastries, sweet and savoury, sandwiches already prepared or made to order. The choices are amazing and of course if you have time they have the fanciest coffee making machine i have seen outside Costa’s., they have a great menu in the cafe where you can chill and enjoy your meal, inside or out (weather permitted).
