Primarily, a Biker's Cafe, but don't let that put you off as literally everybody is welcome and once you get to know us, we Bikers are in fact among the friendliest people you will ever hope to meet!
The cafe is right next to the A21, the main London to Hastings Road about ten miles from Hastings. You literally cannot miss it. Opening hours are 8am till 4pm. Good food which includes everything from snacks to full meals, Tea, Coffee, soft drinks. Eat and drink comfortably inside, or if you prefer, outside either on the terrace or in the large garden area, in what can only be described as a convivial atmosphere, where the friendly staff always have smiles on their faces.
There are often events such as custom bike or car shows held here, or barbecues. Unusually, there is even a motorcycle clothing shop inside the cafe!
There's a good range of very tasty food on the menu, with veggie options if required and the portions are generous to say the least. Prices are very good too!
There's also a good range of well-filled charity donation boxes for you to spread your change between, too! (Contrary to public perception perhaps, Bikers are actually also among the most generous of people!).
If you're down that way, pay the place a visit. Or, do what a lot of people do and make a special trip! You won't be disappointed and a warm welcome awaits...
Read moreRoute 1066 Café doesn’t just get it right — it restores your faith in fried chicken. After trying certain nearby places that felt more like a test of gastrointestinal endurance, this spot is a welcome return to actual food made by people who care.
The chicken is consistently excellent. 10/10. Fresh, hot, and properly fried every time. Crispy outside, tender inside — it’s clear someone in that kitchen knows exactly what they’re doing.
Chips? Another 10. Crisp, well-seasoned, and served in generous portions. They taste like they were made to be eaten, not just exist.
The value for money is also spot on. You get proper portions without being rinsed at the till. No stingy boxes, no corners cut — just good, honest food.
Staff are friendly and attentive. They greet you, get the order right, and seem like they actually want you to come back — which is more than can be said for some places just up the road.
If there’s one small downside, it’s the dining area. The food’s great, but the tables and chairs could use a more regular wipe-down, especially during the busier times. Nothing major — just a bit more attention would go a long way.
Compared to the other local spot where orders are wrong, staff stare like you’ve interrupted something sacred, and the food arrives colder than your ex’s heart, Route 1066 stands...
Read moreI drove down to Hastings today with my daughter and just before we arrived at Route 1066 we were laughing at the self important reviewers on trip advisor. But I have to say this place was so dirty looking it was beyond a joke. First thing I went immediately into the gents toilet and the white eggshell paintwork on the doors was smothered in dirty and sticky hands marks , they were filthy. These hadn't been cleaned in months , so all those people using the toilets and maybe not washing their hands had left and formed a sticky buildup on all the surfaces.
Anyhow I sat down at the London end and waited for my daughter to bring her sandwich and coffees and on the window ledge to my left were several dead flies. and the window that flank 3/4 of the cafe were absolutely filthy.
Honestly it a bloody cafe we food is prepared, cooked and eaten, yet I have never seen such a dirty cafe in all my 64 years. If I worked there instead of sloping about when it was wasn't too busy or better still when closed wash that bloody paint work down , its a disgrace also clean th flippin' windows and remove the dead flies. Those three things alone would help customers return.
I plan to move to Hastings and will be using the A-21 but I won't be stopping there ever again. Unfortunately I had to give it one star or else I...
