I dont normally write reviews but felt I had to on this occasion. I have been to the plough many times in the past few years and had good experience ,but today took my mum for Sunday lunch and my partner and was appalled with the food, the pork belly was chewy and fatty with no crunch in the crackling the veg was terrible the goose fat potatoes were fatty and small not fluffy atall the gravy is very rich, we ordered a side of Cauliflower cheese at £3.50 this was tasteless and watery the Yorkshire pudding wasn't cooked at the bottom very soggy. the menu appears well written and offers high expectations only to be shattered by the food quality and taste. The other issue I had was my mum doesn't eat garlic and there was a choice of duck and chicken along with beef or lamb she couldn't have the chicken or duck as was only served with the garlic style had they have been plain she would have had 2 other options of roast. There is only 1 choice for vegan or vegetarian which is basic. the pudding menu is very limited and again no option atall for a vegan. one saving grace of my experience is the bar staff they are very friendly and welcoming and a credit to the pub and the beer choice is good. I wont be eating at this pub in the future but would return for a drink that's its saving grace for me I would rate the food 1 and the bar staff 5 but unfortunately I can't do both in one review but they need to look at the kitchen and the chef for...

What a great find . Received a really warm welcome when we arrived from staff and the locals . Longman real ale was well kept and a good selection of gins (alcoholic and 0% as I found out))). The food was of an excellent standard especially the mussels and bread. A huge bowl of large perfect mussels.. no empty small or closed shells in a large bowl of the best broth we've had. Steak was great . Starters were very good especially the squid .. not rings of squid from bookers but proper tentacles.. lovely if that's your sort of thing. I tip my hat to your chef.. keep hold of him as he is a real asset. Road side pub with lovely views and garden Last mention goes back to the staff again.. really makes a difference when your met with a big smile and a "can do attitude" that is so lacking in so many pubs. Well...

Booked to go for Sunday lunch on January 26 th 2025 Absolutely freezing- no heating on . Had an open fire but not lit. Sat with coats on but still not warm enough. I did complain but wasn’t convinced about the excuse of why radiators were not on as my partner is a plumber. Could not understand why the open fire wasn’t on either considering we are in January ! My partner pork was not hot either and roast had too many herbs - we both left food as got cold too quickly . Not cheap either. I highlighted these problems but the manager didn’t even knock my coke off the bill. Such a shame as went to support a local pub but will not ever...

A nice, cosy pub with a variety of food and drink options and a lovely open beer garden to catch the rays. However, the 7 pints of cruzcampo the group ordered were totally flat. Additionally, we paid £7 for 6 pieces of squid, of which only five arrived at the table, as the waiter dropped one piece on the floor as he walked over and did not even realise or acknowledge it. When eating the squid that did make it safely to the table, the coating was unbearably salty and so overpowering that it made me wish he had dropped all six pieces instead of just the one.

Staying locally for a few nights and were recommended to try The Plough, and it did not disappoint. Staff and service very polite and efficient, food was obviously cooked to order and good selection of beers. Dog friendly too which seeing as we have one is an important factor to us. We'll definitely go back before we go home and if you're staying locally I'd definitely recommend too.

A very good place to stop by. Very gentle serving team and great portion size. We came here on a weekend that they work onlyo occasionally. Simple menu, genuine food, great taste, simple beer selection. A bit chilly, no heating in January was surprising. The apple crumble is recommended.
