Recently visited for some lunch, what a lovely family run pub! Lovely host/landlady when we walked in. Sat down in the cute garden with a nice cider. Ordered fresh food, reasonably priced. A lovely home made focaccia sandwich and a burger. The whole visit was delightful! On the way out I overheard two ladies saying it was the nicest pub they've ever been to, I think I might agree. Can't wait to come back!

What a lovely country pub the Red Lion is! I was there for the first time on behalf of Three Acre Brewery for a great little Christmas market. There was even a fairground organ outside, complete with a sprinkling of 'snow' to complete the atmosphere. The pub is cosy, warm and just how a country pub should be, and to top it all, Gary and the team are so friendly and welcoming - what more could you want!

Four of us stayed in Brede for a long weekend and chose to eat at the Red Lion for two of the evenings. We received a very warm welcome from Lindsey, Gary and their team. The pub has a great atmosphere and the food was delicious. If you’re in the area it’s definitely worth a visit.

Food acceptable but service a joke. We had booked a table but none was reserved for us . Had to wait while one was cleared and laid then we're asked if we intended to eat! Ordered drinks which failed to arrive so had to reorder then the order was wrong. Only 4 of us so no excuse! Puddings were brought to the table by a small boy of about 12 years old who couldn't remember which ice creams were which as we had ordered different flavours so he told us to taste them all to find out!! Staff seemed more interested in swapping raucous stories with the locals propping up the bar than in serving the diners! What a shame! It used to be a great pub but we will not...

OH Dear!! Visit Giants of Brede regularly and thus the Red Lion and it has up until now been fine. BUT the rudeness of mine host has knocked it of our list of good places. Instead of a welcome I was greeted with have you booked for lunch. We hadn't and while was taken for a pint and a half we were dismissed as others who also had not booked were found a place. Took drinks to table and immediately told table was for lunch in half and hour. Replied that we would be gone by then and would not return. The gentrification of Pubs is happening all over the UK. Why can we NOT just have a seat and a pint? Because restauranters are taken over the bars in well...

Stumbled across this excellent Pub when we had a quick break from London. Excellent... the front of house staff and bar staff were so attentive and pleasant. We booked a table for dinner that night. “Sussex Smokie” and “Pulled Pork” superb..... had a booking at another restaurant for Sunday Lunch but changed to have one of the best Sunday lunches at the Red Lion that I have had for a long time. Sunday Carvery, highly recommended. Tasty, Generous portions, excellent Chef and amazing value for money. Coming back in a few weekends with a bunch of friends.... and dog friendly too with plenty of...
