Great place, went at 1pm threw the week and not too busy. From the time of ordering food to the time of getting it was about 10mins, which is Fantastic. It was red hot, chips were not dry or burnt like most place and the steak pie was filled to the brim with very large pieces of steak and best of all it's on the 2 for £8.99. Well worth a try for a pie lover or someone hungry. Place was nice and warm, felt really cozy. Tables are spread out to a good floor plan so everyone's not on top of each other. And the staff are very pleasant and always smiling. They go that little bit extra and bring hot drinks to the table for you and ours even gave me a free pot of Garvey extra. Might not seem much to everyone but all the little things count and it's what makes a place not just good but great. I will be going back soon as it's cheap but definitely not nasty. Try for your self...! Thanks

The Marquis is very close to where I live and my family and I have visited it many times over the years. My choice of food on various occasions has been the carvery because it is normally delicious but just lately we have noticed a slip in their standards. Only last week the vegetables on the carvery were undercooked and very hard but this place is our local so we thought it might be a one off mistake and went back this week to try something else. This time around I chose the halloumi salad which only had five ingredients, halloumi, lettuce, croutons, grated cheese and a tiny amount of salad dressing. Perhaps some people would expect tomatoes, cucumber and various other basic salad items with this dish but they were all missing. When I asked the waitress where the other items were she said it is normally served like this so I guess that this is what you will receive for £9 from there if you like salad. Personally though I think I will be visiting alternative establishments who can make a much better job of it.

Me and my partner went to the carvery here, the queue to be served was a half hour wait at least, and when we got served they had run out of Yorkshire puddings(which we'd paid extra for) and out of gravy, the food we did have was ok, but by the time we sat down to eat the DRY Sunday dinner, we had had enough so asked for our food boxing up(so we could put gravy on at home), the box was brought to the table and I had to scrape my food into it, in the middle of the over crowded restaurant, which was embarrassing as it was a messy job. I believe it must have been overbooked, because you could turn for the amount of people running around. Real shame because most of the staff seemed absolutely lovely, but really rushed off their feet - just seems like a case of poor planning. Unfortunately we will not be back for another visit.

Went here on christmas eve eve for a family meal with 2 young children. You get what you pay for I suppose. This was an additional experience to the main event on christmas eve. The food was OK. Not the best carvery I've ever had tbh. A lot of the food was dry and overcooked. The roast potatoes were deep fried and inedible. The starters were deep fried things, chilli shrimp and brie wedges. 🙄 The staff are really friendly and attentive, but it's not enough I'm afraid. We also had a large group behind us that were loud and using foul language. I may return for a drink at some point but not for anything to eat.

Visited on Saturday afternoon with my mum , we decided to order the carvery and were please . The yourkshire puddings were enormous when we tried them they tasted wonderful, I had gammon which was delicious and mum had turkey and beef, both of which were moist and well cooked. The range of vegetables was excellent and all cooked just so . Great value meal for anyone and there are 3 sizes in plates depending on your appetite. The restaurant is clean, well set out and comfortable . Staff were all very attentive and polite
