So the food is nice enough, if nothing special… but the cafe has the atmosphere of a meeting of the National Socialist Party in 1930s Germany. My family has visited the site four times. A lapse in judgement… because of the four times we’ve been, we’ve been told off three times. Not for high treason, but instead for the sort of petty twaddle that makes goodwill die.

First time the owners had had the intelligence to leave a stack of wood by the playground. Our kids moved the wood away from the playground (free of charge), only for some authoritarian ne’er do well to come over and tell us that they shouldn’t be play with the wood (no sugar Sherlock - if it hadn’t been dumped by a playground, they wouldn’t be!).

Second visit was uneventful.

Third visit I went into the cafe with our two sons and sat at a six person table, while my wife and sister in law went for a swim, to join us later. I was approached by a member of the resident ruling party and asked if I’d mind moving tables, I politely declined, explaining we’d have company soon. I thought that was the end of it.

When my wife came in, the local party representative spoke to my wife, in a moment I’d describe as cowardice for not speaking to me, to take issue with her because I, and not she, had saved her a seat.

Then last time, my wife went to take the dog swimming and as she drove slowly up the pot-hole laden lane, she was told she needed to drive slowly because of goats.

To be fair, it would only have been possible to go slower by stopping the car and pushing it.

So the idea of the place is good, but the people who run it are just socially incompetent. Rules, passive aggression, a lack of civility, they’re just irksome to be around. The food would have to cure cancer to make dealing with these people with it.

I can’t be bothered with their nonsense so won’t be darkening their...

The people who own this place should not work in hospitality. I was meeting a friend and my partner needed to work from there as he was giving me a lift as I couldn’t drive due to a c section. AFTER he bought a large coffee he went to plug in his laptop and was promptly told, we don’t give out ā€œfreeā€ electricity, despite him spending Ā£5 on a coffee which he then had to drink quick and find somewhere else to work from, he was also going to buy lunch there. Myself and my friend were bothered multiple times at 4pm and 4.10pm and told to leave so they could close the fences, despite the opening times on the gate saying 6pm, we both had babies and I was waiting to be picked up by my partner who’d had to leave. Cannot understand why they’d be like this and they ruined a lovely day for all of us despite us spending on their premises and being there for just a couple hours. Also the cafe wasn’t full so it wasn’t even...

Went to burton farm cafe to have breakfast this morning with my husband ordered the large English breakfast costing 11.00 x 2 Bit disappointed by the amount of add ons at 1.00 each ie black pudding hash browns No choice off type off egg unless upgraded To poached or scrambled eggs at a pound extra. Ordered sourdough toast didn’t look As if it had been in toaster still white fried egg looked like it had been kept warm on the hot plate yolk hard bacon also over cooked and kept warm sausages the same both breakfast took about 6 minutes to come out Not enough time to be over cooked Like it was . Overall very disappointed everywhere Else I’ve eaten denotes a large breakfast As a choice of how you want your egg cooking and includes in most cases black pudding hash browns and hash browns as standard lovely setting shame about the food Will not be returning over priced and poor Choice sorry no photos...

Visited today for the first time and it’s a great setting and lovely to watch the swimming and fishing. Went in for breakfast and was very surprised at the high prices but wanted to give it a try. It wasn’t massively busy but there was a slight wait, that is fine but when the food arrives and my full English breakfast is cold and the only warm item was the beans I was disappointed. I had my children with me and they both had scrambled egg on toast. We added a hash brown charged at Ā£2 for one making it Ā£8 for a single slice of toast and a small amount of scrambled egg. We requested a well done egg on the breakfast batch and that also arrived runny. We didn’t want to ask for a replacement as we didn’t want to wait again. Overall lovely location and worth a visit but the prices are too high for what you get there’s no reason to charge Ā£2.50 for a can of pop.

Fabulous cafe that I cannot recommend enough! The food is delicious (I had an oat latte and a veggie breakfast this morning - heaven šŸ˜) and the staff are so lovely. I was made to feel at home and it’s also an animal lovers paradise. Top tip - cosy up by the fire and look out onto the lakes. You won’t get these kind of views anywhere else! Just take care not to doze off on the sofa, it’s so comfy! Well done Burton Farm Cafe you should be proud of yourselves. I think this place is amazing 🤩

This was a really disappointing experience, we ordered vegan/ veggie breakfast what you see in the photo is all that was served for Ā£11 per breakfast, if it had been done well, then ok, but this was not the case. The halloumi and tomatoes were cold not been near a stove or heat. No vegan sausage we were told because we had the cheese? We declined the eggs but weren’t offered anything else to replace then I really hate meaness and won’t be going back
