So the food is nice enough, if nothing special⦠but the cafe has the atmosphere of a meeting of the National Socialist Party in 1930s Germany. My family has visited the site four times. A lapse in judgement⦠because of the four times weāve been, weāve been told off three times. Not for high treason, but instead for the sort of petty twaddle that makes goodwill die.
First time the owners had had the intelligence to leave a stack of wood by the playground. Our kids moved the wood away from the playground (free of charge), only for some authoritarian neāer do well to come over and tell us that they shouldnāt be play with the wood (no sugar Sherlock - if it hadnāt been dumped by a playground, they wouldnāt be!).
Second visit was uneventful.
Third visit I went into the cafe with our two sons and sat at a six person table, while my wife and sister in law went for a swim, to join us later. I was approached by a member of the resident ruling party and asked if Iād mind moving tables, I politely declined, explaining weād have company soon. I thought that was the end of it.
When my wife came in, the local party representative spoke to my wife, in a moment Iād describe as cowardice for not speaking to me, to take issue with her because I, and not she, had saved her a seat.
Then last time, my wife went to take the dog swimming and as she drove slowly up the pot-hole laden lane, she was told she needed to drive slowly because of goats.
To be fair, it would only have been possible to go slower by stopping the car and pushing it.
So the idea of the place is good, but the people who run it are just socially incompetent. Rules, passive aggression, a lack of civility, theyāre just irksome to be around. The food would have to cure cancer to make dealing with these people with it.
I canāt be bothered with their nonsense so wonāt be darkening their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe people who own this place should not work in hospitality. I was meeting a friend and my partner needed to work from there as he was giving me a lift as I couldnāt drive due to a c section. AFTER he bought a large coffee he went to plug in his laptop and was promptly told, we donāt give out āfreeā electricity, despite him spending Ā£5 on a coffee which he then had to drink quick and find somewhere else to work from, he was also going to buy lunch there. Myself and my friend were bothered multiple times at 4pm and 4.10pm and told to leave so they could close the fences, despite the opening times on the gate saying 6pm, we both had babies and I was waiting to be picked up by my partner whoād had to leave. Cannot understand why theyād be like this and they ruined a lovely day for all of us despite us spending on their premises and being there for just a couple hours. Also the cafe wasnāt full so it wasnāt even...
