I recently had the pleasure of visiting Archerfield Walled Garden in Dirleton, and I must say it was a truly enchanting experience. From the moment I stepped foot on the grounds, I was captivated by the beauty and tranquility that surrounded me.
First and foremost, the stunning architecture of the walled garden itself is a sight to behold. The combination of the traditional stone walls and the vibrant greenery creates a picturesque backdrop that is both charming and elegant. It’s evident that every detail has been carefully considered, making it a visual treat for visitors.
As I wandered through the garden, I was delighted by the wide variety of plants and flowers that were meticulously arranged. The garden boasts an impressive selection of both native and exotic species, ensuring that there is always something new and exciting to discover. The immaculately maintained lawns and pathways made for a pleasant and leisurely stroll.
One of the highlights of my visit was the café located within the garden. The menu featured a delightful range of dishes, all made from locally sourced ingredients. Whether I was in the mood for a hearty breakfast or a light lunch, the food was always delicious and beautifully presented. The tranquil atmosphere of the café, with the option to dine al fresco, made for a truly enjoyable dining experience.
The staff at Archerfield Walled Garden deserve special mention for their exceptional hospitality and knowledge. They were friendly, attentive, and always ready to provide advice and recommendations. Their passion for the garden was evident in their willingness to share their expertise and make my visit even more memorable.
In addition to the garden and café, Archerfield Estate offers a range of activities and events for visitors of all ages. From garden tours and workshops to outdoor games and live entertainment, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The estate truly caters to the diverse interests of its visitors, ensuring that each person leaves with a smile on their face.

Read moreTook my daughter on the fairy trail a couple of times, she loved it. Booked the fairy trail over Christmas & was fantastic time with my daughter. The performers were absolutely amazing. I would 💯 %recommend taking kids of most ages to this again next year. The only down side was it was quite overpriced, & only reason for not giving 5 star. I understand that the price has to be a bit more, due to all the added extras, the hired performers, light shows etc. But was still overpriced. It cost almost £30 just for me & my daughter to go to this. And one thing I have to say was a complete rip off was at the end, after paying £27 for us both. They had a stand selling marshmallows. £1 for one large marshmallow! Literally one large marshmallow on the end of a stick for a quid! Add again one large choc button, was around another 50p. Just found that to be an absolute rip off, as the trail that had paid almost £30 for had just finished, its the sort of thing that you would expect the kids to be offered the marshmallow to toast Inc in the price. But nope they were there with it advertised, with other staff around asking if kids wanted one, then basically telling the parents, your child wants a marshmallow & choc button to toast. Do they want more than one?? As said found that a total rip off & tacky to charge £1 plus for a single marshmallow & choc button to be paid at the end, after the price paid. Saying all that, if my daughter wanted to go again next year, I would take her as it was a fantastic trail. Esp the evening...
