Neurospicy family with autistic grandfather and grandson along with kids and partners. Wow, just wow. Fell in love with the place and the staff instantly. Friendly, ultra accommodating for all our little weird bits with food. Wee man wanted to nose about and take in data and the lass that dealt with us was 100% the best, kindest and understanding server I have ever had, this review is for her. Sorry I didn't grab your name. Wee man felt scared cos he heard noise upstairs. She caught me helping him and immediately took us the back, quieter way. Wee man was soo happy and it really mattered. He nosed, we came back down and we thanked her. Again, just wow. Thank you.

Food itself was a amazing. We had a selection of starters, mains and desserts and each came out pipping hot, presented with care and thought and tasted like gifts from heaven. One of the kids had their burger one minute and next it was gone. Was a huge burger too. Didn't even get time to grab a pic of it. Everyone was saying best they had ever had and the grandson a solid 10 out of 10.

Location, atmosphere and interior are all the magic you would hope they could be. My memories go back 40 years and working as a kid in the fields around the place. So very happy I returned. We will have many more visit and if your reading this, hope to see you there.

Wish I could give more stars all round and they would all be deserved. Thank you and see...

Not good for vegetarians / Vegans as food cooked in same fryer as meat & fish.

I really struggled to get something that was actually vegetarian here as although items were labelled vegetarian on the menu, I don't think they can be called that if they are cooked in the same fryer as meat & fish. I thought that I was going to be relegated to the kids menu mac and cheese, but that also wasn't suitable as it used non veggie cheese that contains calf rennet. So I ended up with two starters (the Hummus and the mushroom bau bun) they were both tasty.

I was there with family and they enjoyed their lunch. (they eat meat/fish)

I spoke with the person who runs the Tavern and asked if they would consider changing how they cooked things going forward? (This could be easily fixed with a small separate fryer) and they said they wouldn't as I was the first person who had asked about this. This was disappointing to hear as I'm sure there are many vegetarians who eat there who are just not aware of the cross contamination and trust when something is marked on a menu as suitable for vegetarians.

Unfortunately, due to this, I wouldn't be...

Called for dinner early Sunday evening, quite a busy Inn and I would suggest that you book. The service was warm and friendly in this historic characterful establishment. A good menu and specials board won't over face you but more than enough choice for most, the choice of a smaller version of some mains will please some. My chicken and prawn Phad Thai was amazing and thankfully didn't contain choy. The steak and ale pie was also delicious. Along with a couple of sides we had sufficient to accommodate our hearty appetites. We didn't have time to sample starters or puddings but they looked very appealing. Good value for money. Highly...

We had an early evening meal with friends - first time we have visited ( though my 96 year old Dad did say he had last visited in the summer of 1949.....) really friendly welcome, excellent menu choice, efficient service - food and presentation was first class - Mrs S and I shared the haggis starter - very tasty, i had the Gammon, egg Chips and veg - Mrs S had duck and we shared the cheese cake sweet - all very impressive - prices reasonable. All in all a great experience - we will recommend and will return in the future - thank you.
