Great food at a great price. Not the prettiest interior but the stunning views of Loch Long and the surrounding Arrochar Alps more than make up for this and there’s plenty of outdoor seating if weather permits, we were not so lucky this time!
We arrived at around 6pm to a half-filled restaurant. This soon changed as guest after guest funnelled through the doors until every seat was full. The waitress handled herself very well without any help for the majority and kept a calm genuine demeanour.
To start I had the Buffalo Chicken Strips, these were beautifully tender and came with a cheese sauce dressing, very tasty and super crunchy! My partner opted for the chicken pakora and the batter was extremely light, like a tempura style, very nice and the spiced onions a nice addition.
For mains I chose the Chicken Alfredo which whilst not mind-blowing was definitely worth the price. I ogled some of the other orders that came out and the Steak Pie looked amazing, should have opted for this myself! My partner got the special burger of the week, a Cajun chicken and chorizo burger with plenty of fresh veg and garlic mayo which she enjoyed thoroughly.
Only dessert option was Sticky Toffee Pudding with cream or ice cream. My partner enjoyed the toffee pudding and I enjoyed the ice cream that came with it.
After dinner we headed through to the bar which was filled with travelling tradesmen, tourists and a couple locals. The bar is quite small but has a very homely feeling with everybody interacting enjoying the atmosphere and watching the...
Read moreThe Bothy Pub - Busy pub in the centre of Arrochar. Sampled their jaffa cake with ice cream and a few drinks all very reasonably priced. Efficient team of lads running the bar too.
The Apartment above the pub - Ack this is such a shame, the furnishings are great, well thought out, beautiful view, spacious, but it is tired, the flat needs to have a face lift and the house keeping isn't up to standard to class it as a luxury flat. It wasn't cleaned very well and there was lots of things unkempt and needing replacing/repaired. For £250 I expected more than just the basics not being met.
It also lacks that personal touch, a wee hamper, a pint of milk, a guest information booklet etc. There is also no WiFi so you need to connect in the bar and for some of our group they needed to sit in the hall to get reception.
Can't fault the staff or the bar, and in this day and age we know how much things cost to do up, however. Best of luck...
Read moreTwo stars just for food. Hope they didn't spit in it. The additude of bar staff was just wow...Felt like we're a foreign trash and they do us a favor just even talking with us. We actually needed to wave almost in the front of their faces to get the attention. Waitresses shouting table numbers like they have no idea were they are, brought wrong receipt and after we paid for the right one, took ours away without even asking. Communication level is very low. But from the observation, because we had plenty of time while waited for our oder, they all were fine with the locals. I mean Scottish. So if you are Scottish, probably won't get that customer unti service. Want to try great customer service and high quality food? Go to Arrochar Hotel for the dinner. If we knew hotel have 4 star dinners, wouldn't returned to this...
