Firstly, i was alarmed that there was no track and trace in place in this establishment. Shocking in the current climate!! Is this not illegal? Sirloin steaks were inedible, I have had much better in a Witherspoon's, again not what I was expecting for £20, value for money zero. You can get two in Tesco for £7.00 and more restaurant standard. To be fair we were not charged for the steaks, rightly so. One steak was late by approx 6 minutes. No real explanation as to why? Chips were burnt, dark brown in colour and totally dried out. Cheese cake was all base a very little topping and looked like it had been constructed by an eight year old. Salad which was £3.00 and would not meet trading description as it was a few baby chard leaves with a few cherry tomatoes, hardly a salad more a garnish, again disappointing. Front of house/hospitality zero, I've had better in McDonalds! I will not be returning and would...

Visited as staying at nearby holiday park. Started well, we visited for 3 consecutive nights of our 5 night holiday and received a warm welcome, the bar person each time was very hospitable. Unfortunately on our 4th night our visit wasn't met with the same warm welcome. We had our daughters with us age 15 and 16, we were asked to sit in a side room (seperated, which hadn't been asked of us on prior visits ). We were then sat in a room at the back of the pub, the room was cold and felt like we were in the naughty corner. We stayed for one drink as we were asked at 9.20pm if we wanted anything else as last orders was being called. All felt very awkward on this occasion, we will not be returning for our last night's stay, which is unfortunate as we highly rated the place before tonight.

30/10/25 Thanks for your reply in response this was yesterday evening 29th October we arrived around 8.40pm and left...

We never had any food when we visited but those who did, seemed to find it pleasant. The whole place is very run down. No guest beers as advertised, just Old Speckle, and that was a good pint. I'll not go back again - even though they run a free shuttle service from the campsite. When we left the pub, we were stinking of chips...you know the smell you get when the frying fat has not been changed for a good while. To be honest, it's all very tired and shagged out. I'm not a fussy person but I'd rather not eat there. The bar has the very parochial feel...and the seating is rock hard. There is a play area/room for kids, a small private dining room (seats about 10) with one table and a large tired dining area. Wear old clothes 'cause you'll stink of chips when done. Kids running around like mad things would also put me off. Car park is miniscule....

We weren't staying in the pub itself, we were in different accommodation around the corner but we came here for food and what a delight it was. They had ran out of chefs chicken but the chef altered the burger for us so we could have some haggis on the burger. It was delicious. The chips were also proper chunky chips. Food beer selection and the sticky toffee pudding was lush as well. The fact that this pub is owned by the community really shows as everyone who served us were just so friendly and clearly happy to be there. Everyone spoke and it was extremely welcoming! One of the best pubs I've been to in a long while!! If you're wanting food I would recommend booking and they don't do food on a Monday.

The old inn was reborn as a community-driven hotel. You’ll meet volunteers and wonderful and kind staff. Breakfast is ordered the day before - choose a time and just show up. Restaurant was perfect for dinner - tasty and wholesome dishes at low prices. The bar also sells cocktails, wine and beer at very low prices. We stayed in one of two rooms on the top floor. Comfortable and very clean. But with just one very small window that opens there’s no way to really get air through the room. After a bath or a warm day it gets very damp. Maybe the sky window could be replaced with one that opens?

An inn with history On our recent road trip through the Scottish Highlands, I aimed to find unique accommodations. Black Bull Inn did not disappoint. Our newly renovated room had so much charm, and the bathroom had a great shower. The staff was welcoming and addressed our issues very promptly. I loved the breakfast options, and the meal was ready at the time we requested. The one glitch was that we arrived one minute after the kitchen closed, which was disappointing as no other restaurants were open in the area. Keep that in mind.
