Bothy 57 — Restaurant in Scotland

We visited this cafe after seeing it on a Google search. Arrived around lunch time and although it appeared busy, there were seats available. It's nicely decorated and they have local eggs and honey for sale too. We ordered 2 of the Bothy breakfasts and were happy with the wait as it is obviously all cooked freshly to order. The bread was amazing, sausages are probably up there with the best I've eaten. On the whole it was a fantastic dish and well worth the price (which was very reasonable). The staff were very attentive and I made a point of letting them know how pleased we were. The chef was very passionate about his cooking and I will definitely be visiting...

First, the good. Nice coffee and tasty bacon roll. Serving staff are friendly.

Unfortunately, the chef has no concept of time! 10 of us arrived and ordered coffees and rolls. Coffees came out in decent time but the rolls varied from approx 35 mins to over an hour. The fillings for some of our rolls didn't even get on the grill until some of us had finished eating! At one point during our wait, the chef came out with scraps to give to a dog!! Appreciate we were a large group but I don't think 8 rolls should take that long!

Just grabbed a bacon, egg, and sausage roll from Bothy 57, and overall, it was a hit! The bacon was perfectly crispy – just how I like it – and the egg was cooked really nicely too. My only minor quibble was with the sausages; they were a bit too herby for my personal taste, and I would have preferred a more straightforward plain pork or beef butcher sausage. However, the roll was absolutely packed with filling, which was great to see. To wash it down, I had a flat white, and it was excellent – nice and strong, and a generous size too. Definitely keen to return and try more...
